Copperas Cove Senior Center Grand Opening March 16, City Outlines Costs
Copperas Cove will hold a ribbon-cutting at 2400 Walker Place Blvd on March 16 at 2 p.m. for its new Senior Center, a project voters approved in 2021 with a $4,401,057.49 guaranteed maximum price.
Copperas Cove will celebrate the grand opening and ribbon-cutting of its new Senior Center at 2400 Walker Place Blvd on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., with residents invited to tour the facility, city officials announced. The center is the culmination of a bond-funded project voters approved in November 2021 and a construction program managed under a $4,401,057.49 guaranteed maximum price awarded to Paragon Construction.
The city’s State of the City record shows the project moved through planning with a Professional Services Agreement with Brevard Architecture in January 2022, Paragon Construction engaged as construction manager at risk in February 2023, and the formal construction contract awarded by City Council on September 19, 2023. A Groundbreaking Ceremony launched construction on November 3, 2023.
Jeff Stoddard, Director of Parks and Recreation, told City Council the building at 2400 Walker Place Boulevard is “almost at the finish line,” and local reporting noted an estimated completion before the end of January. City Council has approved a five-year lease with Hill Country Community Action Association, which will have operational control over programming at the new senior center.
The council discussion that included the senior center update also addressed other municipal business: council retained its mayor pro tem, approved budget amendments, and tabled action on a public hearing. Photo captions from the council meeting named Mayor Dan Yancey, Place 4 Councilman John Hale, Place 5 Councilman Dale Treadway, and Mayor Pro Tem Vonya Hart.

The new center’s telephone listing appears in a regional directory as Senior Center Copperas Cove, (254) 547-6049, a local contact for residents seeking information about access and hours. For official press materials, event details, or to request photographs and project closeout documents, the city provided publicrelations@copperascovetx.gov.
The senior center opening runs alongside a separate facilities update: the City of Copperas Cove posted on February 12, 2026, that the newly constructed Animal Care Facility at 2441 FM 1113 is now open to the public, adding that the prior facility at 1601 N FM 116 has been closed to the public. The city’s media release stated, “The City of Copperas Cove is pleased to announce the newly constructed Animal Care Facility is now open to the public,” and that the team is transitioning into the new facility, with a future grand opening to be planned.
When the March 16 ribbon-cutting moves the senior center from construction to community use, HCCAA’s five-year lease and the city’s $4.4 million investment will shape how local seniors access programming and services within Coryell County.
