Coryell County Sheriff Arrests Two Copperas Cove Residents, Seizes Drugs, Firearms
Coryell County deputies arrested two Copperas Cove residents at a County Road 4813 residence, seizing an undisclosed amount of drugs, firearms and U.S. currency; two charged with felony possession.

The Coryell County Sheriff’s Office arrested Danny Oliver Thompson Jr. and Tiffany Matteson after executing a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of County Road 4813, where investigators found an undisclosed amount of drugs, firearms and U.S. currency, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies from the Organized Crime Unit led the operation with tactical support from Coryell County SWAT and assistance from Killeen Police SWAT, Lampasas County and Bell County sheriff’s offices, Texas DPS, HSI and the DEA, according to agency accounts.
Authorities obtained the warrant after investigators developed probable cause that illegal narcotics were being stored and distributed from the home, officials said. Both Thompson and Matteson were taken into custody without incident and, according to one report, were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, PG1 4g < 200g, a felony offense under Texas law. Local outlets noted additional charges may be pending as investigators continue to review the case with prosecuting authorities.
Sheriff Scott Williams framed the operation as part of ongoing enforcement in the region: “The Sheriff’s Office remains committed to identifying and disrupting illegal narcotics activity in our community. Operations like this help keep dangerous drugs off our streets and protect the citizens of Coryell County and neighboring counties.” Residents with information about drug activity were urged to contact the Coryell County Sheriff’s Office at 254-865-7201 or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
Separately, the Coryell County Sheriff’s Office reported a high-risk search-warrant service in the 500 block of Hill Street in Copperas Cove on April 4 that a different news outlet tied to an arrest of 27-year-old Elyiahu Maliq Ross. That operation reportedly yielded over 13 pounds of marijuana, cocaine, “narcotics paraphernalia consistent with manufacturing and or delivering controlled substance” and multiple weapons, and Ross was charged with Delivery of Marijuana and Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 Less Than 1 Gram. Because the addresses, arrestee names and reported quantities differ, the agencies have not publicly confirmed whether the CR 4813 and Hill Street actions are part of the same investigation.
The CR 4813 arrest and the Hill Street service follow a recent multi-month enforcement push in Copperas Cove and surrounding jurisdictions: Copperas Cove police and the Bell County Organized Crime Unit conducted a six-month sting that produced 15 arrests and 36 sealed indictments presented to a grand jury in April, the district attorney’s office said. “Lately, we have been really cracking down on (drugs),” Copperas Cove police spokesman Martin Ruiz said. Prosecutors will determine final charges as investigators finalize inventories and case files.
