Diane and J.L. Holloway of Nashville, Tennessee, have made a $5,000,000 gift to the Vaught Society, the University of Mississippi said, directing the donation to the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation’s fundraising/top giving level that supports student-athletes with scholarships, academic guidance and wellness resources in Oxford. The university framed the contribution as a major boost to Ole Miss athletics programs.

“Diane and I felt the desire to make this gift at this time in support of all the special athletes who contribute to Ole Miss' success,” J.L. Holloway said. “We were inspired by Coach (Chris) Beard and Coach (Pete) Golding's passion to encourage the players to be their best on and off the court and the field. We hope the gift will help elevate the programs and will show the players and coaches that we believe in them. We are very proud of the hard work and commitment they've shown, so we want to encourage the men and women to set their goals high, work hard, study hard and become philanthropic participants in their communities and beyond.”

The Holloways’ $5 million follows earlier major gifts to the university. In 2017, their $1,000,000 donation to the OMAF Forward Together campaign helped strengthen University of Mississippi sports programs, facilities and equipment, and the university recognized that gift by naming the south entrance of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in their honor. In 2024, the couple gave $200,000 to renovate the Green Room at the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts. Additional contributions to the Ole Miss Alumni Association, the Ole Miss Women’s Council for Philanthropy and University Libraries bring the Holloways’ cumulative giving to more than $8.4 million, university materials say.

The university’s Office of Development highlighted the gift with a LinkedIn post headlined “Impact That Inspires: Holloways Commit $5 Million to Support Ole Miss Student-Athletes,” which included a photo captioned “Diane and J.L. Holloway with Emily and Glenn Boyce” and a graphic credited to Kennedy Burkhall. Local coverage echoed the university release; The Mississippi Monitor published a story dated Mar 3, 2026. One university release text also states the donation was “announced on March 1,” though that release did not specify a year.

The university announcement describes the Vaught Society as a fundraising level that provides assistance to student-athletes through scholarships, academic guidance and wellness support, and other materials call it the Athletics Foundation’s top giving level. The announcement did not specify whether the $5,000,000 is an outright gift or a multi-year pledge, nor did it break down exact allocations among scholarships, academic support and wellness programs.

Ole Miss presented the Holloways’ contribution as continuing a local philanthropic legacy that has already left visible marks on campus in Oxford, including the Vaught-Hemingway Stadium south entrance naming and facility renovations. The university says the new gift will strengthen support services for student-athletes across Ole Miss athletics programs.
