Dolores Booster Club Hosts Under the Moonlight Prom Fashion Show March 7
Dolores Booster Club presented "Under the Moonlight" prom fashion show and pop-up shop Feb. 28 at Dolores High School, with student and teacher models and donated formalwear for sale.
The Dolores Booster Club hosted "Under the Moonlight Fashion show and Prom pop-up shop" Friday, February 28 at Dolores High School, with the pop-up shop opening at 5:00 p.m. and the fashion show beginning at 6:00 p.m., according to local broadcaster Ksjd. Students and teachers from Montezuma and Dolores counties modeled gently used formal wear donated by community members, and the sale aimed to provide affordable gowns, suits and accessories for students preparing for prom.
Tickets were priced at $5, with The-journal reporting that ticketholders receive 50% off listed prices at the pop-up store. Ksjd listed the pop-up shop starting at 5:00 p.m. and the Under the Moonlight Fashion Show beginning at 6:00 p.m., while The-journal described shopping hours as running from 6 to 9 p.m. at the new Makers’ Space at 209 W. Main St., creating differing schedules across local outlets.
Organizers accepted a range of donated items for the sale, listing "gently used gowns, shoes, shirts, bow ties, ties, vests, pants and suits." The-journal named five drop-off locations for donations: Dolores High School; Southwest Open School; GOAL Academy offices; the Dolores Public Library; and the Cortez Makers’ Space. To arrange donations, the booster club asked donors to email doloresboosterclub@gmail.com. One outlet noted a collection window through Thursday, March 5, while Ksjd described the pop-up and show as part of a February 28 program.
Local partners and on-the-ground volunteers staffed hospitality and logistics: Southwest Open School served mocktails during the shopping portion, and Ksjd listed "Appetizers provided." The-journal named the LOR Foundation as a partner and identified the new Makers’ Space at 209 W. Main St. as a venue for shopping; Ksjd’s event notice also carried an "Event Supported By NPR" header. The-journal additionally said a fashion show at the Sunflower Theatre would showcase models from the two counties, a detail that differs from Ksjd’s Dolores High School venue listing.

The Dolores Booster Club described the event purpose as benefiting local high school students preparing for prom by providing accessible, affordable formalwear and raising funds for prom-related expenses. Donors who dropped items off at participating schools received a complimentary fashion show ticket, a community incentive aimed at boosting contributions and keeping costs down for students.
Organizers and partners involved schools and community spaces across Dolores and Montezuma counties to assemble the inventory and run the event; specifics on final proceeds and a complete sponsor list were not provided in the event notices. For donation arrangements, the booster club provided the contact doloresboosterclub@gmail.com.
