Douglas County Libraries offer seven branches, programs, digital services, free library cards
Douglas County Libraries is recruiting a Board member for District I while overseeing seven branches, including Parker at 20105 East Mainstreet with a Recording Studio and event halls.

Douglas County Libraries is seeking a new Board of Trustees member for District I, the system’s recent LinkedIn post said, a recruitment that will help shape district policies including the Board’s authority to remove the Library Director under the Community Service Policy. The district operates a countywide system of seven library locations that serve Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch, Parker, Lone Tree and surrounding areas and describes itself as "a free civic resource" for people who live, work, own property or attend school in Douglas County.
The Parker branch, at 20105 East Mainstreet, Parker, CO 80138, illustrates the system’s push into multiuse community space: Parker’s hours are Monday–Thursday 8 AM–8 PM, Friday 8 AM–6 PM and Saturday–Sunday 10 AM–4 PM, and customers can reach the District’s Customer Service line at (303) 791-7323. Parker houses "The Recording Studio, where customers can use state-of-the-art software and equipment to create videos, musical compositions, animations, e-books and more," features "Plants & Pollinators children's play space," and advertises the "largest event hall space of our libraries" with "floor-to-ceiling windows," proximity to an adjacent park with a splash pad and ice skating, and walkability to restaurants and shops.

Douglas County Libraries promotes arts and community display opportunities: the District "supports the arts by featuring stunning public art and donating display space at select branches," and the Community Service Policy states the District will make exhibit and bulletin board space available to groups from Douglas County engaged in cultural, intellectual, recreational, civic, educational or charitable activities. The policy also affirms free speech activity in exterior areas, subject to time, manner and place restrictions at "all seven Douglas County Libraries locations," and allows programs or debates to be scheduled by the District or outside organizations, with appropriate materials distributable directly prior to and during programs.
The policy establishes event rules as well: "Serving or consuming alcoholic beverages is prohibited on District property and within or around District buildings without the execution of and compliance with the District’s event and hospitality services contract." Governance provisions make clear the Board’s authority and reporting obligations: "The Library Director may be removed by the Board whenever, in its judgment, the best interest of the District will be served thereby," and Article X requires an annual report to the County Commissioners in accordance with Colorado Library Law, Section § 24-90-109 C.R.S.
Programs and outreach span countywide promotions and seasonal offerings. The Brew Tour runs Aug. 1 to Sept. 30, inviting participants to visit local breweries and coffee or tea shops, a recent LinkedIn post noted; that post drew 13 likes and no comments. A separate LinkedIn recruitment post for the District I trustee seat drew eight likes and no comments, while earlier posts promoted family programs such as "Don't Bug Me, I'm Reading" and local used book sales. The library’s LinkedIn page lists 2,610 followers and the organization tagline, "Elevating our community by inspiring a love of reading, discovery and connection."
Douglas County context frames demand for library services: county population is listed at approximately 383,906 and Lone Tree at approximately 14,253 on a local community resources page that also notes high median income and strong health rankings. For residents seeking service details or to reserve space, Douglas County Libraries lists its main office at 100 S. Wilcox Street, Castle Rock, CO 80104, and the customer service phone number (303) 791-7323.
