Dutch Bros Coffee Plans Third Iowa Location, This Time in Ankeny
Dutch Bros is bringing a third Iowa location to 315 N.W. 36th Drive in Ankeny, completing a trio of central Iowa drive-thrus announced in early 2026.

Dutch Bros Coffee is heading to Ankeny. The Pacific Northwest-founded, Tempe, Arizona-based chain announced plans in early March 2026 for a third Iowa location at 315 N.W. 36th Drive, rounding out a trio of central Iowa sites that will mark the brand's first foothold in the Hawkeye State.
The Ankeny development follows two Des Moines locations already in the pipeline. The first confirmed Dutch Bros in Des Moines is converting the former Fazoli's at 4800 S.E. 14th St. into a 986-square-foot, drive-thru-only coffee shop, serving as the brand's flagship introduction to Iowa. A second Des Moines location, announced in February 2026, is planned for 4019 Merle Hay Road and will feature a double-lane drive-thru configured specifically to manage the notoriously high volume Dutch Bros locations attract during morning commutes and afternoon study-break rushes.
The Ankeny site at 315 N.W. 36th Drive is part of the company's rapid 2026 nationwide growth strategy. Dutch Bros aims to nearly double its footprint from 1,147 locations, as of January 27, to over 4,000 shops by 2029, and central Iowa represents a fresh market for a brand that traces its origins to a tiny pushcart in Grants Pass, Oregon, in 1992.
The chain built its following on a model that leans hard into speed and energy rather than the sit-down café experience. Customers pull into quick-moving drive-thru lanes, greeted by upbeat music and employees known as "broistas." That formula has cultivated a fanbase called the "Dutch Mafia," and now those devotees scattered across Iowa no longer need to encounter the brand on road trips out West.
No official opening dates for any of the three Iowa locations have been announced.
