Eathen Rainey Named 2025 United Way Oxford‑Lafayette County Board Member of Year

Eathen Rainey, assistant vice president at BankPlus, was named the United Way of Oxford-Lafayette County 2025 Board Member of the Year, UWOLC Executive Director Kurt Brummett announced during the organization’s board of directors meeting on February 9th; The Oxford Eagle published the announcement March 2, 2026 at 8:00 a.m.

The award recognizes Rainey’s service since joining the UWOLC Board of Directors in March 2024. Rainey serves on the organization’s Financial Security Advisory Committee, is co-chair of the Flashback Bash committee, and was recently appointed vice president for campaigns within UWOLC.

The title of the honor refers to the 2025 award year even though the public announcement and newspaper report occurred in early 2026. UWOLC leaders presented the recognition during the February 9th board meeting, and the Oxford Eagle’s piece documenting the announcement appeared March 2, 2026.

In addition to his UWOLC duties, Rainey continues his professional role at BankPlus and remains active in local civic groups. He participates in the Young Professionals of Oxford committee and serves on the Oxford-Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors as the YPO representative.

Rainey issued a brief statement upon receiving the honor: “It is truly an honor to be nominated as United Way of Oxford‑Lafayette County Board Member of the Year,” Rainey said. “I am grateful to be part of an organization that consistently gives back and works tirelessly for the betterment of the Oxford and Lafayette County community.”

Brummett singled out Rainey’s character and leadership in announcing the award: “Eathen is an incredible individual who makes everyone around him better as his character and heart for helping others are readily apparent to all who know and him,” Brummett said. “He has been an outstanding leader since joining our board of directors and a tremendous blessing to our organization as well as the community.”

The award and Rainey’s concurrent roles place him at the center of UWOLC fundraising and event planning for 2026, including responsibilities tied to Flashback Bash and campaign work. Locally, those committees drive volunteer coordination and donor outreach that support United Way programs across Oxford and Lafayette County.

Outside his professional and volunteer commitments, Rainey’s profile notes personal ties to the community: he enjoys spending time with friends, family and his fiancée, Isabel Colombo, and pursues hunting, fishing and playing sports whenever he can.
