Eureka Man Arrested on Attempted Homicide After Feb. 16 Assault

Felix Yancy Arbaugh, 20, was taken into custody after Humboldt County Sheriff deputies found a 47-year-old man bleeding inside a residence in the 2200 block of Wycliff Lane in Eureka following an assault that deputies responded to about 10:00 p.m. on Feb. 16, the sheriff’s office said. The sheriff’s release says the victim reported the attacker was his nephew and that the victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

“On Feb. 16, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m. Humboldt County Sheriff deputies responded to a residence located in the 2200 block of Wycliff Lane in Eureka for a reported physical assault,” the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office wrote in its official release; the Times-Standard described the address as in the Humboldt Hill area on Wycliff Lane. Deputies located Felix Arbaugh at the scene and took him into custody, the sheriff’s office said.

“Upon arrival, deputies located a 47‑year‑old male victim who reported his nephew, 20‑year‑old, Felix Yancy Arbaugh physically attacked him. The victim was actively bleeding and sustained serious but non‑life‑threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment,” the sheriff’s office spelled out in its statement. The release also notes that deputies found evidence during the investigation that led them to determine a violent crime had occurred inside the residence.

“Deputies located Felix Arbaugh on scene, he sustained minor injuries which did not require immediate medical treatment,” the sheriff’s release says. According to booking records cited by KRCR, “Felix Arbaugh was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide and booked into the jail at 10:41 p.m.” The Humboldt County Correctional Facility is holding Arbaugh on charges listed in the sheriff’s release as “booked for P.C. 664/187 Attempted Homicide.”

He is being held on a $750,000 bond, according to the jail, the Times-Standard reported. The sheriff’s office cautioned that investigators are continuing to develop the case; “This case is currently under investigation and no further details will be released at this time,” the official release states.
