Fairview-Jewell Bulldawg Archery: First Full CCISD Team, 19 Qualify for State

Nineteen students from Fairview/Miss Jewell Elementary, competing as the Fairview/Jewell Bulldawg archery team, will advance to the National Archery in the Schools Program Texas State Championships March 20-21 in San Antonio, Copperas Cove ISD announced March 4, 2026.

The district says this group is the first full CCISD archery team to qualify for NASP State, a major expansion from last year when the program sent a pair to State. The Fairview/Jewell program is in its fourth year, and all four seasons have been coached by Dr. Amanda Brown, according to the district release.

Dr. Brent Hawkins, superintendent of Copperas Cove ISD, celebrated the milestone for Bulldawg Nation: "This team embodies everything it means to be a Bulldawg, and I could not be more proud of them." Hawkins framed the qualification as a sign of rapid progress for a young program and the school community.

Hawkins added context on the student development behind the results: "Many of these students started with a new activity and, just a year later, are among the state’s best. I can’t wait to see them represent our district well and bring some hardware back to Bulldawg Nation." The superintendent tied the achievement to the district's broader goals for students, noting the balance of academics and extracurriculars.

Leading the group is Team Captain Victoria Fajardo, a 5th-grade student at Fairview/Jewell. "I think that it is a very big accomplishment," said Victoria Fajardo. "It was our goal and we met that goal. I’m very proud of our team and our coach." Her captaincy highlights student leadership within a program growing from two state qualifiers last year to a 19-member contingent.
