Fast-Moving Parker Brush Fires Contained; Evacuations Canceled, No Structures Damaged
South Metro Fire Rescue and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office contained fast-moving brush fires in Parker; door-to-door evacuations on Vinegarroon Road and Sonoma Trail were canceled and no structures were damaged.

South Metro Fire Rescue and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said multiple fast-moving brush fires in the Parker area of southern Douglas County were contained within hours Friday after isolated, door-to-door evacuations were issued and then canceled. Authorities reported that structures were initially threatened but none were damaged and no additional evacuations were expected.
A dispatch report said the blaze was reported at 10:30 a.m. in the 8000 block of Silo Road and “was mapped at about eight acres. As of 11:15 a.m., the department said the fire was under control.” South Metro crews with mutual-aid partners moved quickly on the morning runs, and command later shifted to mop-up and monitoring operations.
An initial incident briefing described at least one “two-alarm wildland incident,” and agency logs indicate mutual-aid units responded alongside South Metro. A social media update early in the response read, “Crews are on scene of a large, fast moving brush fire. @dcsheriff is issuing isolated evacuations.” That sequence of isolated evacuations included door-to-door actions on Vinegarroon Road and Sonoma Trail; a later social media update said, “Door-to-door evacuations were issued on Vinegarroon Road and Sonoma Trail but have since been CANCELLED. Air resources were initially requested by command but have been stood down. The fire is under control, and no additional evacuations are expected to be issued.”
As of Friday afternoon, crews were conducting mop-up around the burned area and maintaining a watch posture. A follow-up update said, “As of Friday afternoon, crews were wrapping up mop-up operations, but said a brush fire truck would remain at the scene to monitor the burn area.” Command reported that air resources initially requested were stood down before deployment.
Location details in available reports vary; the 8000 block of Silo Road was cited as the mapped point for the roughly eight-acre burn, while an original dispatch excerpt also referenced a spot “near Merryvale Trail, north of Hilltop Road and east of” with the final descriptor truncated. Those differing location references have not been reconciled in the incident text provided, and agency incident logs or public information officers can confirm whether they describe the same ignition or multiple ignitions.
Officials said there were no reported structure damages from the incidents and that containment efforts were focused on full perimeter control and mop-up. South Metro Fire Rescue and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office remain listed as the lead responders, with a brush fire truck on scene into the afternoon to monitor hotspots as crews complete containment work and investigate cause.
