Fatal Pahrump Pedestrian Crash Leads to Driver Arrest, Separate DUI
Terrie Lynn Hicks, 61, was killed just before 9:30 p.m. on SR-160; Nevada Highway Patrol arrested the driver on suspicion of impairment and a separate man was later booked on DUI-related charges.

Terrie Lynn Hicks, 61, of Pahrump, was struck and killed just before 9:30 p.m. Monday on southbound State Route 160 just south of Country Place Road, Nevada Highway Patrol said. The driver of the striking vehicle was arrested at the scene on suspicion of impairment, and SR-160 was closed for several hours while investigators processed the scene.
Nevada Highway Patrol’s preliminary account describes a tan 1997 Toyota Camry traveling south on SR-160 when a pedestrian entered the travel lanes; the driver reportedly swerved left but struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, and NHP identified the victim as Terrie Lynn Hicks in its press material. Troopers reopened the highway after several hours of investigation and scene work.
The crash adds to a year-to-date toll tracked by NHP Southern Command: 35 fatal crashes resulting in 36 fatalities, a statistic NHP cited in its release to underscore the volume of fatal traffic incidents its Southern Command has handled so far this year. Investigators said the collision remains under active review while troopers collect evidence and complete crash reports.

Separately, an NHP arrest report shows troopers established a roadblock at the intersection of Charleston Park Avenue and Happy Lane to allow emergency vehicles access and to support the investigation. At about 10:00 p.m., a Dodge pickup approached the roadblock, drove onto the dirt shoulder to bypass it and was subsequently signaled to stop by a trooper using a flashlight, the arrest report states. The sole occupant told officers, “I’m home,” the report quotes. Troopers said they smelled an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver’s side window; the man was arrested and booked on one count of driving under the influence, one count of possessing an open alcohol container in a vehicle and one count of failing to stop at a roadblock, per the NHP arrest report.
Officials and local records contain several conflicting details that investigators are still reconciling. One set of NHP materials and local reporting place the collision on SR-160 at roughly 9:29 p.m.; an arrest report filed in connection with the roadblock lists an NHP response time of approximately 6:14 p.m. Another discrepancy involves the striking vehicle model: some official reports describe a Toyota Camry while other incident documentation lists a Toyota Tacoma pickup. Nevada Highway Patrol crash and arrest reports will determine the official time, location and vehicle identification.

Nevada Highway Patrol said the investigation is ongoing and that it will release confirmed findings, charges and additional details when the agency completes its reports and coordinates with the Nye County coroner.
