Forsyth County School Bus Crash Injures 12, None Life-Threatening
A Forsyth County Schools bus rear-ended a vehicle in Lumpkin County Monday, injuring nine elementary students and three adults on a field trip.

A Forsyth County Schools bus carrying elementary students on a field trip rear-ended another vehicle Monday morning at the intersection of GA-400 and Lumpkin County Parkway/Burnt Sand Road in Lumpkin County, injuring 12 people, none of them life-threatening, the Georgia State Patrol said.
Of the 12 injured, nine were students, one was an adult employee riding the bus, one was the bus driver, and one was the driver of the other vehicle, according to GSP. The Forsyth County school district separately described all student injuries as minor and said it had contacted affected families directly.
The district released a full statement on the incident: "Earlier today, a bus transporting Forsyth County Schools elementary students on a field trip was involved in a traffic accident. Out of an abundance of caution, all buses returned to the school. Students were checked for injuries at the scene. Any student injuries reported were minor, and the families of those students were contacted directly. School staff, transportation personnel, and first responders were on site to support students. The school has been communicating with families, and students returned to campus where staff and the school nurse are continuing to check on them as learning returns to normal."
Georgia State Patrol and Lumpkin County Emergency Services responded to the scene. 11Alive reporter Kyle Ives passed the crash site Monday morning and observed both agencies' vehicles on scene.

The trip never reached its destination. Employees at a nearby attraction said they had been expecting the students but were told the tour was canceled after the accident.
The specific Forsyth County school whose students were on the bus had not been publicly identified as of Monday. The district has not released the total number of students aboard, the cause of the crash beyond GSP's description that the bus rear-ended the other vehicle, or whether any citations were issued.
