Four Arrested After Large Fight Erupts at Plaza Del Sol Mall

A confrontation that began inside Movies 8 at Plaza Del Sol Mall escalated into a large physical altercation outside the theater and ended with four arrests, Del Rio Police said. Two adult men who intervened were assaulted; both declined medical attention at the scene.

"The following information was provided by the Del Rio Police Department." According to that release, "On March 1, 2026, at approximately 9:42 p.m., officers with the Del Rio Police Department responded to Plaza Del Sol Mall near the Movies 8 parking lot in reference to a fight in progress." Officers arriving at the scene observed multiple males and females actively engaged in a physical altercation and "immediately intervened and separated the involved parties."

Del Rio Police said the incident began inside the movie theater when "a family was approached by two female juveniles who expressed a desire to fight the family’s teenage member." The initial encounter dispersed and was reported to theater staff, the police statement noted.

According to the family, as they exited the theater they were approached again by the same two female juveniles, who were then "accompanied by additional individuals." That second approach led to a physical altercation between the female juveniles and the teenage family member, police reported.

An adult male family member who attempted to break up the fight was assaulted by other participants and "sustained injuries to his face and head," the police release says. A witness at the scene corroborated the family member’s account and "reported that he also attempted to break up the fight but was assaulted in the process." Both adult males declined medical attention at the scene.

Del Rio officers took four people into custody and charged them with assault causing bodily injury. Two female juveniles, ages 13 and 14, were taken into custody and charged. Eduardo Daniel Salas, 17, and Alyssa Cedillo, 17, were also arrested and charged with assault causing bodily injury.

Salas and Cedillo "were transported to the police station for processing and were later released to the custody of the GEO Correctional Facility pending magistration," the police statement said. The release did not provide further details about the location of that facility or the post-arrest disposition for the two younger juveniles.

Police say the incident remains under investigation. Residents who witnessed the disturbance or who have video from the Plaza Del Sol Mall Movies 8 area during the 9:30-10:00 p.m. window on March 1 are asked to contact Del Rio Police Department to assist investigators.
