Frank E. Fahey of Claremont dies at 82, born in Millinocket
Frank E. Fahey of Claremont died Feb. 3 at age 82; a public viewing and prayer service will be held Feb. 13 at Stringer Funeral Home, with a spring committal in Millinocket.

Frank E. Fahey, a longtime Claremont resident born in Millinocket, Maine, died on February 3 at age 82. The loss is felt across family and friends in Sullivan County; arrangements in Claremont provide local residents an opportunity to pay respects before his burial in the family plot in Millinocket.
Frank was born July 31, 1943. The funeral home obituary notes his family roots: "Frank was born in Millinocket, Maine, the son of John and Frederica (Emery) Fahey, grandson of Frank and Maude (Scott) Emery, and John (Jack) and Laila (Scott) Fahey." That genealogy ties him to northern New England families spanning Millinocket to the Connecticut River valley community in Claremont.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, described as "his loving wife of 48 years," sons John, who is married to Anne, and Joseph, who is married to Nicole, brother Scott Fahey, niece Meghan Fahey and nephew Sean Fahey. Those names reflect a close immediate family who have been listed as central to his care and support.
Stringer Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements, included a character sketch in the obituary that outlines what Fahey meant to those who knew him. "The essence of Frank was his kindness, humility, and curiosity about the world around him. He opposed any type of injustice. Above all else, Frank loved his family and dedicated his life to ensuring their happiness and supporting them in their pursuits." The obituary adds a personal note from Jean: "Jean wants to thank her sons whose steadfast love and devotion to their father has helped her through her most difficult days."
Public viewing hours are scheduled on Friday, February 13, at Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. That will be followed at the same location by a prayer service and words of remembrance from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A committal service will take place this spring, and Frank will be laid to rest in the family plot in Millinocket Cemetery alongside his parents and grandparents.
Condolences may be left on Stringer Funeral Home's online guestbook, and memorial pages for Frank are also available on commonly used obituary sites. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Aging Resource Center, Stroke Support Group, DHMC, or the American Stroke Association.
For Claremont and surrounding Sullivan County neighborhoods, the schedule gives neighbors and former colleagues a chance to express sympathy in person; the spring committal will follow as a family-only return to Millinocket. The funeral home has asked visitors to consult its online guestbook for any updates to arrangements.
