Games Workshop unveils full plastic Legio Custodes range for Horus Heresy
Games Workshop revealed a full plastic Legio Custodes range for The Horus Heresy, including infantry, a Contemptor dreadnought, and new anti-grav vehicles. The kits bring versatile builds and 41st Millennium proxy options.

Games Workshop used its New Year Preview livestream on January 16 to reveal a full new plastic Legio Custodes range for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy, delivering the first comprehensive Horus Heresy Custodes line in plastic. The announcement packs a starter-friendly force box, two distinct infantry kits, a modular Contemptor‑style dreadnought, several anti‑grav vehicles and specialist jump troops, all designed with multiple build and pose options.
At the centre is a Legio Custodes Battle Group box, pitched as an ideal starting point or a focused addition to an existing collection. Two infantry kits expand options for building distinct formations: Custodes Guard armed with long spears, and Shield‑Watch troopers equipped with Praesidium shields and warblades. Both kits include choices for unhelmeted heads and command variants, giving players model variety for display or command-role conversions.
The new Contemptor‑style dreadnought kit is explicitly modular. It can be built as a Contemptor‑Achillus with a spear configuration or as a Contemptor‑Galatus carrying a warblade and shield, widening tactical and aesthetic choices for table and shelf. Vehicle offerings lean into the Custodes’ antigrav doctrine, with the Caladius Annihilator introduced as an anti‑infantry grav tank fitted with an Arachnus beam carronade and heavy forward weapons, a second Caladius variant mounting an Iliastus twin‑accelerator cannon, the Coronus antigrav carrier, and winged Venatari jump units for rapid strike play.
Model images and build guides shown during the reveal emphasize kit versatility and pose options, which should please modellers who value customisation and dynamic basing. The page also notes that Horus Heresy Legio Custodes models double as Adeptus Custodes proxies for 41st Millennium games, opening immediate crossover use for players active in both eras.

Practical value is clear: new players get a compact, playable entry in the Battle Group; collectors and painters gain multiple clean sculpts and unhelmeted heads for characterful displays; and tournament or narrative players can use the same models across Heresy and 41st Millennium tables. Kitbashing possibilities are strong thanks to the modular dreadnought and the variety of weapon sprues, while the anti‑grav vehicles and Venatari add new tactical toys for Custodes lists.
For now, watch for preorder details and release timing from local stores. These kits broaden the Custodes toolbox across two eras and promise a burst of new modelling and list-building activity for both Horus Heresy and 41st Millennium players in the months ahead.
