Games Workshop dropped two Warhammer Community posts that, taken together, cover both ends of what keeps this hobby ticking: event loot and iconic characters. The swag boxes for the 2026 Warhammer Open got a meaningful upgrade, and Commissar Sebastian Yarrick has been officially announced as returning to Armageddon with a new miniature that clearly nods to his older sculpts.

Every ticket holder for the Warhammer Open receives the standard swag box, and this year's contents are more practical than the typical lanyard-and-stickers package. The box itself converts into a painting station, which is already the most useful thing GW has ever put in one of these. Beyond that, the box includes a cutting mat, a store voucher, a soft-touch notepad and pen, a lanyard, poker-chip tokens, metal dice, and stickers. As Frontline Gaming's Sam put it, "the swag boxes look more useful than usual" — a low bar historically, but this time it genuinely clears it.

The Yarrick announcement is the more charged of the two posts. The setup is pure grimdark: Armageddon is burning, the Orks are everywhere, and the old Commissar is back. The new miniature retains the classic pose, with the stolen power klaw raised high, and carries over the blazing bionic eye, sash, epaulettes, and hat that have defined the character since his original sculpt. What's new is the age. This version of Yarrick looks noticeably older, with servo-assisted callipers holding him together — a grim detail that suits the character's stubbornness perfectly. The laspistol at his hip gets a specific callout as the same weapon he carries in an accompanying animation, which is exactly the kind of continuity nod that rewards long-term fans.

The Yarrick post closes with a tease that "more on Yarrick and the wider Armageddon war is coming soon," which suggests this is the opening move in a larger narrative push rather than a standalone release announcement. Whether that means a full campaign supplement, new faction rules, or additional character releases remains to be seen, but GW clearly has more planned for the Third War for Armageddon than a single miniature reveal.
