Goochland BOS Budget Session Feb. 17, 6 PM; County Posts Official Agenda
The Goochland County Board of Supervisors will hold a budget session Tuesday at 6:00 PM in the administration building; the county posted the official agenda on its government account.

The Goochland County Board of Supervisors will hold a budget session Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 6:00 PM in the administration building, and the original report noted, "Official agenda posted by county government account." The announcement gives residents the meeting time and location but does not publish the agenda text in the reporting made available to the press.
The posted notice did not include agenda items, presenter names, or procedures for public comment. The county account that posted the agenda was referenced in the report, but the report did not provide a link, a screenshot, or a list of topics to be discussed during the budget session. The absence of an agenda document in the report leaves questions about whether the session will include hearings on specific departments, revenue projections, or tax and service implications for county residents.
The notice identifies only the meeting type - a Board of Supervisors budget session - and the meeting site as the "administration building." The report does not specify which supervisors will present budget items or whether the board will accept in-person or written testimony, details that typically determine how and when citizens can participate in budget deliberations.
Goochland’s posting comes as other jurisdictions move through parallel budget calendars. Boston’s City Council FY26 review process is being run by the Chair of the Committee on Ways and Means, Councilor Brian J. Worrell, and the city expects approximately 35 public hearings. The Boston public notice states, "The public is encouraged to watch all the hearings in person or via livestream or broadcast on Xfinity Channel 8, RCN Channel 82, and Fios 964," and it adds, "Public testimony is welcomed and encouraged at all departmental hearings, as well as at dedicated public testimony hearings. See below for the hearing calendar and ways to testify!" Boston hearings in the excerpt include a public testimony session Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 6 p.m. in the Iannella Chamber and a FY26 revenue review on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m.
At the state level, the State House News Service reported Feb. 13 that "Any momentum the legislative session might have gained this year will likely stall out for a few days as lawmakers over the years have taken their foot off the gas during school vacation weeks." The same report said, "The committee hasn't finalized its hearing schedule but a working document points to the resumption of hearings on March 9," and noted that "House Democrats are working behind the scenes on major energy affordability and immigration bills and a conference committee charged with coming up with a single cannabis reform bill."
Goochland’s posted agenda provides a single confirmed fact about the session schedule. County officials or the county government account should have the full agenda and any public-participation instructions available to review before the 6:00 PM session.
