Holmesville Community Center will host a free Healthy Aging Clinic March 21 with 30-minute fall-risk, hearing, vision and medication screenings for adults 60+; register with Kerry MacQueen at 330-674-5035 ext. 251.

Holmesville Community Center at 8441 W. Jackson St. will host a free Healthy Aging Clinic March 21, offering fall-risk assessments, hearing checks, vision checks and medication reviews for adults age 60 and older. The clinic runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., is not income-based, and is open to individuals aged 60 and over.
The Falls Prevention Program of Holmes & Wayne, under the direction of the Holmes County General Health District (HCGHD), is organizing the clinic and has scheduled each screening for 30 minutes to allow a thorough review and discussion of results with the individual. Participants may register for one or multiple screenings; no walk-in appointments will be available.
Falls screening will be provided by a trained member of the Standing Against Falls Coalition of the HCGHD. The fall risk screening uses a checklist to identify potential fall risks and "will include a discussion on the importance of fall prevention" along with "a review of why it matters to the individual in his or her fall prevention efforts."
Appointments must be made in advance by calling Kerry MacQueen at the Holmes County General Health District at 330-674-5035, ext. 251. The registration line is the sole contact listed for scheduling or questions about the March 21 clinic and the 30-minute appointment blocks.

Educational and positive aging materials will be made available from multiple agencies at the event, including the Falls Prevention Program of Holmes & Wayne, the Ohio Department of Aging, the National Council on Aging, the National Institute on Aging and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "The Falls Prevention Program of Holmes & Wayne encourages seniors to take advantage of these screenings to stay healthy, active and free from falls."
The clinic’s combination of falls assessment, sensory checks and medication review is designed to link practical screening results with prevention education at the Holmesville Community Center. Anyone interested in the free Healthy Aging Clinic should call 330-674-5035, ext. 251 to reserve their 30-minute appointment(s).
