Ivinson Foundation Hosts Local Life Support Trainings in January
Ivinson Foundation offered a Basic Life Support certification session on January 6 and will hold two renewal courses later this month, providing timely training for Albany County health workers and community members. These short, credential-focused sessions help ensure local responders and caregivers maintain essential emergency skills.

The Ivinson Foundation moved to bolster emergency preparedness in Albany County with a Basic Life Support certification course held on Tuesday, January 6. The two-hour afternoon session took place in the HR/Education Classroom and was aimed at both healthcare providers and community members seeking initial BLS credentials.
Following that session, two renewal opportunities remain scheduled for January: a Basic Life Support renewal on Friday, January 9 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, and an Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification renewal on Friday, January 16 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The January 9 BLS renewal is set for the HR/Education Classroom, while the ACLS renewal will be held in the Ivinson Memorial Hospital Sugarloaf Conference Room. The calendar posted by the Ivinson Foundation lists dates, times, locations and registration and contact information for each session.
These courses are short and focused, ranging from one to four hours, and are designed to help clinicians maintain certifications required for hospital and emergency work. For Albany County residents who volunteer with local emergency services, work in long-term care, or provide in-home care, maintaining current BLS or ACLS certification can mean the difference between a coordinated, effective response and delayed treatment in cardiac or respiratory emergencies.
Beyond immediate patient care, the trainings support workforce readiness in a rural county where timely access to advanced emergency services can be limited. Regularly scheduled certification and renewal sessions at a local hospital facility reduce travel burdens for staff and volunteers, and help employers maintain compliant credentials among clinical teams.
Residents and providers interested in attending should consult the Ivinson Foundation calendar for registration details and capacity limits. Because certification expiration can affect employment and volunteer eligibility, those who need renewal should plan ahead to secure a spot in upcoming sessions. The Foundation’s January calendar reflects these scheduled sessions and serves as the primary source for sign-up and contact information.
