Jamestown garbage and recycling delayed for MLK Day holiday

City officials announced Jan. 12 that Jamestown’s curbside garbage and recycling collection will not run Monday, Jan. 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The Baling Facility and Recycling Center will also be closed that day, and city offices will not operate. Regular service is scheduled to resume Tuesday, Jan. 20, with all collection routes delayed one day.

The one-day delay means Monday pickups will happen Tuesday, Tuesday pickups will occur Wednesday, and so on through the week. Residents should expect a temporary shift in collection timing and plan accordingly for trash setouts and recycling bins. The change affects residential curbside service across Jamestown and any local businesses that rely on municipal pickups.
