Josef Prusa Named Interim Leader of Printed Solid After CEO Resignation
Josef Prusa has taken interim command of Printed Solid after David Randolph resigned effective January 1; the move aims to keep North American assembly and distribution stable.

David Randolph resigned as CEO of Printed Solid, effective January 1, and Josef Prusa, CEO of Prusa Research, has stepped in as interim leader while a permanent successor is sought. The change matters to builders and resellers because Printed Solid handles partial assembly, reseller distribution, and a small Prusa print farm that supports North American supply for key models.
Printed Solid is a Delaware-based operation wholly owned by Prusa Research. Prusa Research acquired Printed Solid in May 2022, a move Fabbaloo described as establishing a U.S. footprint and noted the acquisition took place "3.6 years before January 1st, 2026." The Delaware site assembles printers and runs "a small Prusa print farm churning out parts for MK4S and Core One 3D printers that are assembled in Delaware," according to Tomshardware. Those production and fulfillment functions make Printed Solid a linchpin for Prusa's North American logistics and aftermarket support.

Management has framed the transition as operational continuity. Chief Sales Officer Chris Pelesky said, “We are the same company we were in 2025, with the same goals of advancing sales and manufacturing of Prusa 3D printers here in the U.S. While we will certainly miss David, we will continue onward in the journey he started us on knowing we are in good hands with our Prusa parents, who will determine the next steps in the CEO replacement process,” Pelesky said. Tomshardware and other outlets report Printed Solid’s leadership team is working closely with Prusa headquarters to align missions and keep business as usual during the transition.
Community and trade reporting used varying terms for the handover. Forum Prusa3d described the move as Josef Prusa taking "emergency command," while Aihaberleri and Ekhbary used "interim command" or "assumes interim leadership." Tomshardware also reported that Josef Prusa has expressed an ambition for his team to become the largest 3D printer and filament manufacturer in the U.S., signaling that strategic momentum could accelerate under direct Prusa oversight.
For readers who build, sell, or depend on Prusa hardware in North America, the immediate takeaway is stability: assembly and parts production appear unchanged, and the search for a permanent CEO is underway. Watch for direct statements from Josef Prusa or Printed Solid about hiring timelines, any shifts in U.S. manufacturing strategy, and potential impacts to filament and printer availability. The interim move keeps supply lines running and places a high-profile founder at the helm while Prusa Research maps the next chapter.
