Key West Ladies Golf Association Donates $4,100 to Key West Wildlife Center
The Key West Ladies Golf Association handed a $4,100 check to the Key West Wildlife Center on March 5, supporting native animal rescues and rehabilitation.

The Key West Ladies Golf Association presented a $4,100 check to the Key West Wildlife Center on March 5, 2026, the latest result of the league's annual Fund Raiser/Scramble that channels proceeds to a local nonprofit each season.
League members Deb Tenney and Elisabeth Hayes made the presentation directly to Wildlife Center Executive Director Thomas Sweets and Animal Care Director Peggy Coontz. The Key West Chamber reported the donation on March 9.
The Wildlife Center's mission frames how the funds will be put to work: "Ensure the future of our diverse native wildlife by providing timely rescues and quality rehabilitation with the hope of release back to the wild."
The Key West Ladies Golf Association is a 36-year-old league with 25 members who play 18 holes every Thursday from November through April at the Key West Golf Club. The annual scramble has become a fixture of the league's calendar, directing a portion of its season toward community support rather than competition alone.

The league's giving this spring extended beyond the Wildlife Center. On April 13, members including Tenney and Hayes joined Janice Kitching to present donation checks totaling $4,600 to Judy Leggett and Elizabeth Griffin of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Key West, a separate fundraising event reported by KONK Life.
Between the two presentations, the association directed more than $8,700 to Key West nonprofits during its 2025-2026 season at the Key West Golf Club.
