La Grande High School’s girls swim team finished second overall in the combined 1A/2A/3A/4A division at the 2026 OSAA State Swimming Championships in Beaverton, totaling 35 team points on Feb. 24. The finish was one of Eastern Oregon’s highest-profile state results this season and put La Grande among the top small-school programs at the state meet.
The OSAA championships in Beaverton brought together schools from four classifications, and La Grande’s 35 points were enough to secure the runner-up spot across the combined field. The meet’s consolidated 1A-4A format meant La Grande’s swimmers were racing against a wide range of programs, and the second-place finish reflects scoring across multiple events during the Feb. 24 session.
La Grande’s result carries particular weight for Union County, where winter sports often compete for visibility with valley programs. Achieving a state podium place at the OSAA championships gave La Grande High School a rare statewide spotlight for Eastern Oregon swimming programs this season, highlighting the depth of talent coming from the La Grande roster at regional and state levels.
The team’s 35 points encompassed individual and relay events across the girls program at the state meet in Beaverton. That total secured second place in the combined division standings and will be recorded in OSAA meet results as a notable performance for La Grande during the 2025-26 school year.
Athletes, coaches, and supporters from La Grande returned to Union County on Feb. 24 evening with the knowledge that their season culminated in a top-two finish at the state championships. The runner-up placement positions La Grande as a leading program from Eastern Oregon this winter and gives the school a measurable achievement to build on in offseason training and next year’s intake of swimmers.
