Lake Mary Commission Approves Orlando Health Signage, Floodplain Plan, Noise Exemption
The Lake Mary City Commission unanimously approved Ordinance No. 1721 to allow Orlando Health signage at its Rinehart Road site during its Feb. 5, 2026 meeting.

The Lake Mary City Commission unanimously approved Ordinance No. 1721, amending the Bent’s Landing Planned Unit Development for the first time to allow Orlando Health to install signage at its location on Rinehart Road, the commission determined during its Feb. 5, 2026 regular meeting. City Manager Kevin Smith and Community Development Director Sabreena Colbert were on the dais for the proceedings that produced the unanimous action.
During the citizen participation portion of the meeting, Jonathan Anderson, identified as president and coach of Lake Mary Little League, reported on the league’s continued growth in baseball and softball and publicly invited commissioners to the league’s opening day on Feb. 13. Anderson also stated, “Lake Mary won the Little League World Series in 2024 and is the only city in Florida to be Little League World Champions, Anderson said.”
Community Development Director Sabreena Colbert and City Manager Kevin Smith recognized planner Sydney Boswell as the city employee of the fourth quarter for her work on downtown planning initiatives. The commission acknowledged Boswell’s role in those efforts, and Boswell “thanked the city and her team for their acknowledgement.”
Commission business that evening included staff updates, citizen participation and employee recognition, and the panel confirmed its ongoing meeting cadence. “The Lake Mary City Commission will continue to meet on the first and third Thursday evenings of each month,” the commission noted as it wrapped routine agenda items.

The Orlando Health Lake Mary project provided contextual background to the signage request. Orlando Health leadership recently hosted a fundraising program tied to the new Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital; the health system’s account of that event notes, “On February 9, Shawn Molsberger, President, Orlando Health South Seminole Hospital and Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital, in partnership with Orlando Health Foundation, hosted a fundraising event for physicians and his leadership team,” held at the Lake Mary Events Center. The program listed Mayor David Mealor and Orlando Health’s Chief Physician Officer Jamal Hakim, MD, among speakers, and Orlando Health officials reported strong philanthropic support for the hospital project. For inquiries about philanthropic support, the hospital’s contact is Erin Hoover at Orlando Health.
The public summary of the Feb. 5 meeting that included the Ordinance No. 1721 description did not provide ordinance text, roll-call vote tallies beyond the unanimous outcome, or staff-recommended conditions for the signage. Likewise, specific ordinance or resolution language, vote counts, applicant names, locations, or staff reports tied to any floodplain plan adoption or a noise-exemption approval were not included in the meeting coverage available from the Feb. 5 session. Official city minutes and the Feb. 5 agenda packet will provide the complete procedural record and any additional actions taken that evening.
