LAPD arrests woman after shots fired at Rihanna’s Beverly Hills home

Los Angeles police arrested a woman in her 30s on Sunday after multiple shots were fired toward the Beverly Hills home of pop star Rihanna, officials said. The Los Angeles Police Department said no injuries were reported and that a weapon used in the incident was recovered as investigators continued to piece together what happened.

Officers were sent to the area at around 1:15 p.m. after learning of shots being fired, the LAPD said. Media reports put the LAPD response between roughly 1:15 p.m. and 1:21 p.m., with CNN reporting the department confirmed a shooting at 1:20 p.m. and the Los Angeles Times citing dispatch audio at 1:21 p.m. The timeline discrepancy reflects differing accounts on the radio feed and initial field reports.

Accounts diverge on how many rounds were fired and the extent of property damage. The Los Angeles Times, citing LAPD radio dispatch audio, said the call reported "approximately 10 shots" and that a round penetrated a wall of the mansion. CNN, citing LAPD statements, said "between 5 and 7 shots were fired," and that the shots hit the gate to the house but not the house itself. ABC7 reported multiple rounds struck the exterior of the home and a vehicle parked out front but "none penetrated the inside of her home," according to its sources. All outlets agree that no one was hurt.

Local radio dispatches and witnesses described shots coming from a vehicle across the street from the gated property. The Los Angeles Times reported the dispatch said the vehicle, described as a white Tesla, then fled south on Coldwater Canyon Drive. Investigators later examined a black SUV outside a hospital under yellow crime scene tape, the Times reported, but the relationship of that vehicle to the suspect or the fleeing car was not clear.

Authorities described the suspect only as a woman in her 30s and said she was taken into custody at the scene. "A person was arrested on Sunday for firing multiple shots at the Beverly Hills home of pop music star Rihanna, Los Angeles Police Department officials say," CBS reported. CBS also reported officers "located a suspect and took them into custody without further incident," and that the weapon used in the shooting was recovered.
