Man arrested after intimidating encounter with Andrew near Sandringham Estate
Police arrested a man near Sandringham after reports of an intimidating encounter involving Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and a possible weapon.

Police in Norfolk took a man into custody after officers were called to Wolferton, near the Sandringham Estate, shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. Norfolk Constabulary said the suspect was arrested on suspicion of a public order offense and possession of an offensive weapon, then taken to King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
The local force said it had received a report of a man behaving in an intimidating manner. Police have not said whether a weapon was recovered, and they have not released details about what, if anything, was found in the suspect’s vehicle. The arrest centers on a stretch of countryside close to Marsh Farm, where Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor moved after leaving Royal Lodge in Windsor last year.
A separate account described the incident as unfolding on public land in a lane near the Sandringham Royal Parkland. That account said a man wearing a balaclava approached Andrew while he was walking his dogs, shouted at him, and moved closer before Andrew and a member of his security detail left in a car. Andrew is 66, and the episode has renewed attention on the security risks around a residence that sits in a far more open landscape than Windsor Castle or Royal Lodge.
The Sandringham estate is largely open to the public, and the setting offers fewer natural barriers than the more tightly controlled surroundings in Windsor. That contrast has fueled concern that Andrew, now based at Marsh Farm, may be more exposed to suspicious approaches near the property’s public lanes and parkland. The police response suggests officers treated the report as a public-order matter with a possible weapons element, rather than as a routine trespass complaint.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been stripped of his titles and public role. He has denied wrongdoing in relation to Jeffrey Epstein and has said he regrets their friendship. Earlier in 2026, he was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office in a separate case tied to his Epstein links. For now, the focus remains on the Norfolk arrest, the police inquiry, and how authorities are handling suspicious behavior around a high-profile residence with limited protection.
