Meals on Wheels Rockwall Hosts Webinar on Preventing Alzheimer’s and Other Dementias
Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County promoted a webinar with Wellmed physician Dr. Bendheim to brief caregivers and professionals on preventing Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County promoted a webinar titled “Alzheimer’s and Other Dementias: How to Prevent Them” via Blue Ribbon News, targeting caregivers and professionals with a focus on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. Blue Ribbon News posted the announcement March 3, 2026; the post metadata lists Melanie M as the poster at 10:48 AM.
Blue Ribbon News described the webinar speaker simply as Dr. Bendheim of Wellmed and summarized the planned content: “Hosted by Wellmed, Dr. Bendheim will introduce the hallmarks of dementia, specifically Alzheimer’s disease (AD); including the common symptoms, clinical and pathological features, diagnostic criteria, and risk factors.” The announcement frames the session as an educational briefing for those who care for or work with people living with dementia.
The announcement added that the presenter will outline current therapies and recent research: “He will share the FDA approved treatments for AD as well as the landmark results of the Alzheimer’s Association POINTER multi-component lifestyle study, published in 2025.” Blue Ribbon News also noted Dr. Bendheim’s connection to BrainSavers and said he will introduce the Brain+Body Total Fitness Program, which the announcement describes as an evidence based program offered both through live, instructor-led classes and online.
The local webinar ties into national Meals on Wheels research on aging and dementia. Meals on Wheels America’s research page dated June 24, 2025 describes a pilot study: “The pilot study tested whether the type of meal delivery (frozen vs. daily-delivered meals) delays the time to nursing home placement for adults with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD).” The research summary explains that “people with ADRD who were on the waiting lists at the three Meals on Wheels providers were randomly assigned to receive either 1) meals that are delivered multiple times per week by a Meals on Wheels volunteer or paid driver and include socialization and a wellness check or 2) frozen meals that are mailed to participants’ homes every two weeks.” The summary also states, “The study measured time to nursing home placement within six months.”

Meals on Wheels America’s site places that pilot in the context of a long-standing mission: “Our mission is to empower local community programs to improve the health and quality of life of the seniors they serve so that no one is left hungry or isolated.” The national organization’s pages emphasize research, advocacy and a strategic plan calling for a “bigger, bolder plan to serve more seniors” after more than 50 years of service.
The Blue Ribbon News post included tags such as Alzheimer’s, caregivers, feature, Meals on Wheels and webinar, but it did not list a start time, registration link or platform for the webinar in the announcement. Meals on Wheels Senior Services of Rockwall County organized the event and promoted it locally; the webinar and the national pilot study together underscore ongoing efforts to connect education, direct services and research as Rockwall organizations and national partners address dementia, isolation and senior health.
