Members 1st Federal Credit Union opened its 61st branch inside the Giant Food Store at 224 Hardwood Drive in Lewisburg on Jan. 13, bringing a full suite of banking services to the Susquehanna Valley. The new location offers account openings, loan applications, teller transactions and in-person financial guidance intended to make day-to-day banking more convenient for local residents.

Company leaders and Giant officials joined local leaders for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on opening day. This Lewisburg branch is the credit union's second full-service site in the region; the other is at 1935 E. Third St. in Williamsport, Lycoming County. Members 1st positioned the new branch inside a grocery-anchored footfall generator to capture routine consumer traffic and reduce travel time for customers who combine errands.

President and CEO Michael Wilson framed the opening as part of a deepening partnership with Giant and a broader local strategy. “We have a long-standing partnership with Giant for years and years,” he said. “This is our second location in the Greater Susquehanna Valley with many more to come in the years to come. Lewisburg is a great spot, and we’re excited to be here. The reality is, we already have thousands of members here with auto loans. To be able to support them with a physical location is going to be fantastic.” Wilson, who attended high school in the area, said the move reflects both personal ties and a business case for growing the institution's brick-and-mortar footprint.

Branch Manager Dan Osborne, also a Lewisburg native, emphasized local knowledge and customer service as selling points for the new site. “Understanding the clientele and knowing our people helps me be able to bring that vision of Members 1st here and expand to help members of the area,” Osborne said. He added that customers will receive “one-on-one interactions” with staff, underscoring the credit union's pitch of personalized service versus automated channels.

Beyond retail banking, Members 1st said it will expand collaborations with local organizations including Bucknell University’s Small Business Development Center, the Greater Susquehanna Chamber of Commerce and the Green Dragon Foundation. Such partnerships could steer more small-business advising and lending into the county, supporting entrepreneurship and local employment if utilized at scale.

The branch opening arrives at a moment when community-level access to financial services matters for credit access, auto lending, and small-business support. For Union County residents, the new location means shorter trips for routine transactions and an on-the-ground point of contact for loan and planning needs. Expect the credit union to leverage this foothold in Lewisburg as it expands services and local partnerships in the months ahead.
