Motorcycle dangles from Delta traffic light after crash, rider seriously hurt

A motorcycle was left dangling from a traffic light over Scott Road after a collision in North Delta sent its rider to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Delta police said officers were called just before 3 p.m. Saturday to the 7100 block of Scott Road, near 71st Avenue and 120th Street at the Surrey-Delta border. The crash involved a motorcycle and a sedan. The driver of the car was not injured.

Police said speed is believed to have been a contributing factor, and the incident remains under investigation. The collision shut down Scott Road between 72nd and 70th avenues while emergency crews cleared debris and removed the vehicles from the roadway.

The scene drew immediate attention because of the position of the motorcycle, which remained suspended from the traffic light after the impact.
