Napier Closes Menin Road March 23 to 24 for Tiny House Lift

Rangitīkei’s notice dated 07 January 2026 states, “One of the rehabilitation jobs requires that the road is closed for six days, from Monday 2 February until Saturday 7 February,” and adds, “The hours of closure are between 6:00am and 6:00pm daily.” That closure applied to the stretch between 4545 Taihape‑Napier Road and 4929 Taihape‑Napier Road, a segment described as approximately 49km from the Spooners Hill Road intersection on the Taihape side and 75km from the State Highway 50 (Korokipo Road) intersection on the Napier side.

The two council notices are separate: Napier’s Menin Road closure for the tiny‑house crane lift is set for 23–24 March, while Rangitīkei’s Taihape‑Napier Road rehabilitation work occurred 2–7 February. Rangitīkei’s guidance that “residents will have access for essential travel during the closure but there could be long delays” and that “the road will be open between the hours of 6:00pm and 6:00am during those days, but restrictions will be in place” applies only to the Taihape‑Napier Road works and not to Menin Road.
