OnePlus leaned on battery life, high-refresh displays and sub-Rs 30,000 pricing as it unveiled the Nord CE 6 and Nord CE 6 Lite in India, a clear bid for buyers who want stamina and speed without flagship pricing. The company launched the pair on May 7 at 12 PM IST, framing the lineup around Crazy Power. Pure Play. and positioning the phones as upgrades for premium and mid-segment shoppers rather than the top end of the market.

The stronger Nord CE 6 came with an 8,000mAh battery, 80W wired fast charging, a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor and a dedicated touch-response chip. OnePlus said the phone was built for ultra-high-FPS gaming and claimed 2.5+ days of use from the battery. It also carried a 50MP main rear camera and a 32MP selfie camera, plus unusually tough durability ratings, including IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K protection. The handset was offered in Fresh Blue, Pitch Black and Lunar Pearl.

The Nord CE 6 Lite was cut from the same cloth, but at a lower price. It used a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Apex chip, a 7,000mAh battery with 45W charging, a 6.72-inch FHD+ LCD panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, OxygenOS 16 and IP64 dust and splash resistance. OnePlus also listed a 50MP rear camera on the Lite, keeping the pitch focused on long battery life and smooth scrolling instead of camera heavy claims.

Pricing stayed close to the psychologically important Rs 30,000 mark. OnePlus listed the Nord CE 6 base version at Rs 29,999 for 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, with a 256GB model at Rs 32,999. The company’s India store later showed an effective launch price of Rs 27,999 for the Nord CE 6 and Rs 18,999 for the Nord CE 6 Lite after bank offers, along with no-cost EMI and bundle deals. The Nord CE 6 sale was live, while the Lite was set to go on sale on May 12 at 12 PM IST.

That emphasis makes sense in India’s crowded midrange market. Counterpoint Research has said battery life is the most important factor in the sub-Rs 20,000 segment, and it put the average smartphone battery capacity in India at 5,212mAh. A 2025 market report also pointed to higher battery capacity, especially silicon-carbon batteries, as a growing differentiator. OnePlus appears to be betting that buyers in this price band want fewer compromises, and that a giant battery plus a 144Hz screen is easier to sell than another incremental camera upgrade.

The company backed the launch with an unusual marketing push, teaming with Terribly Tiny Tales on the micro-drama series Not Again, which premiered on May 3 and led into the May 7 reveal.
