OPSU Hosts Oklahoma City University Doubleheader March 6 in Goodwell Streaming Available

Oklahoma Panhandle State University will host Oklahoma City University for a baseball doubleheader on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Carroll Gribble Field, sometimes referred to as "The Grib," in Goodwell, and streaming will be available for fans who cannot attend in person. OPSU’s events calendar lists the pair of home matchups and the university lists its main contact as P.O. Box 430, Goodwell, OK 73939 with telephone 580-349-2611 and toll free 1-800-664-OPSU.

The doubleheader comes as local public safety and campus services remain under contract with the Town of Goodwell. Board of Regents minutes list a Town of Goodwell contract for campus police, fire, EMS, trash services, engineering services and ambulance services at $155,000 for FY18, reflecting the ongoing municipal role in supporting campus events and emergency response on game days.

OPSU athletics has a recent track record of using sporting events for community outreach. Panhandle Magazine reports that Aggie Baseball partnered with Main Street Guymon for a Special Game Day hosted at the Noble Center in Goodwell due to inclement weather on Sunday, Oct. 14, giving special needs children and their families "a day of fun and fellowship." Athletic Director Meghan Mulcahy said, "I am happy our University and our baseball program can take part in coming together for such an amazing day. We are thrilled to be able to extend our facilities, administration, players and other campus groups in support of this event." Aggie Baseball Head Coach Jason LaRocque added, "I am so excited to continue to host this event and I am honored we are able to use our platform to connect with the community. The support from our administration coinciding with the support of those from Goodwell, Guymon and the surrounding areas makes this a wonderful atmosphere."

Digital access and community partnerships are also part of OPSU’s recent agenda. An OPSU information technology announcement authored by Natasha Eidson on Sep 10, 2024, described an expanded IT partnership with Goodwell Public School, and Vice President of Fiscal Affairs Elizabeth McMurphy said, "The future of Information Technology at OPSU is bright. Under the leadership of IT Director Jerome Ortiz, there is excitement in the air about where we’re headed in the realm of technology, as students, faculty, and staff are already seeing new initiatives making a huge impact on their experience. Not only will we see this impact on our campus, but we have the opportunity to partner with and provide a level of service to Goodwell Public School that reaches the students, teachers, administrators, and Goodwell community." That infrastructure and partnership frame streaming as a way to extend game-day access to households across the Panhandle.

OPSU’s presence has long shaped Goodwell. Historical records show the institution, later named Oklahoma Panhandle State University in 1974, is located just west of Goodwell and drew students from surrounding states; the town’s first newspaper, the Goodwell News, began April 9, 1908. University athletics continue to be a focal point for regional pride; President Tim Faltyn told the Board of Regents that the Guymon Daily Herald recently featured OPSU Men’s Rodeo Team winning a National College Championship for the second straight year, underscoring local interest in campus sports.
