Pahrump tourism center seeks local artists for mural project
Pahrump's tourism center launched a call for local artists to design a three-wall interior mural; unveiling set for June 30, 2026. Submissions due Jan. 31 to jlreeves@pahrumpnv.gov.

The Pahrump Tourism Information Center is undergoing an interior renovation and organizers are recruiting local artists to design and paint a collaborative mural that will tell Pahrump’s story. The project, announced Jan. 14, will cover three interior walls and aims to celebrate community history while freshening the visitor experience ahead of a June 30, 2026 unveiling.
Organizers plan to select one lead artist and two to three assistants to execute the mural. Local artists have until Jan. 31 to submit examples of past work to Jaynee Reeves at jlreeves@pahrumpnv.gov. The renovation package also includes updated signage, refreshed landscaping, new lighting and a curated music program inside the information center.
Project partners named in the announcement include Visit Pahrump, Pahrump Valley Main Street, Pahrump Valley Museum and the Town of Pahrump Building & Grounds Department, signaling broad municipal and nonprofit support. That partnership structure indicates the town is investing staff resources and coordinated promotion to make the center a stronger gateway for visitors to Nye County and to increase foot traffic through nearby businesses on Main Street and adjacent corridors.
For residents and local business owners, the mural and the other improvements are a form of placemaking that can change how visitors spend time in Pahrump. A refreshed information center can increase dwell time for tourists seeking local history and events, and placing the town’s narrative on interior walls creates a year-round visual asset that anchors signage and programming. For local artists, the call offers a paid, visible commission and the chance to collaborate with municipal partners and local cultural institutions.
The timeline is compact. With submissions due Jan. 31, selection and planning will need to move quickly to allow design, approvals and installation before the June 30 unveiling. That schedule means selected artists should be prepared to coordinate with the Town of Pahrump Building & Grounds Department and other partners on materials, site access and any permitting or insurance requirements.
This renovation is one element of broader efforts to sharpen Pahrump’s visitor-facing amenities and support small businesses that rely on tourist traffic. Residents interested in contributing or following the project should consider reaching out to the contacts provided and plan to attend the unveiling on June 30, when the town will officially reveal the mural and the updated information center to the public.
