Porsche and Manthey have turned the Taycan Turbo GT into a sharper Nürburgring weapon, and the numbers are designed to matter far beyond one lap time. With development driver Lars Kern at the wheel, the electric Porsche covered the 20.832-kilometer Nordschleife in 6:55.533, a run Porsche said was more than nine seconds quicker than the previous record in the electric executive-car class and 12 seconds faster than Kern’s own Taycan Turbo GT Weissach lap from October 2023.

The latest result came with Porsche’s first Manthey kit for an electric sports car, a retrofit package for the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package that will be available to order from June 2026. Porsche said the kit combines aerodynamic, suspension and powertrain changes, lifts downforce to more than three times the standard model, and raises peak output to 600 kW, 20 kW more than the standard Taycan Turbo GT. The 10-second Attack Mode boost now delivers up to 130 kW.

The lap was not just fast, it was formal. Porsche said the run was certified by a notary on site, while the Nürburgring says official record attempts are also checked by TÜV Rheinland and use calibrated timing equipment. That verification matters at a circuit that functions as the industry’s favorite public stress test, where lap times are marketing, engineering proof and brand status rolled into one.

For Porsche, the Taycan Turbo GT has already been positioned as the most powerful series-production Porsche ever and as a track-focused EV. The Weissach Package version was built for circuit work and deletes the rear seats to improve the power-to-weight ratio. Porsche first unveiled the Taycan Turbo GT line in March 2024, after saying the Weissach-package car had already set a Laguna Seca EV mark of 1:27.87 in February 2024.

Manthey brings its own cachet to the effort. Founded in 1996 by Olaf Manthey and based in Meuspath near the Nürburgring, the company has spent three decades chasing Nordschleife lap time and became a certified Porsche partner in 2021. That history gives Porsche a way to sell more than speed: it sells credibility, at a premium, to buyers who want electric performance validated on the hardest public road course in Europe. The challenge is moving fast enough to stay ahead of rivals, including the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, which Nürburgring later said logged 7:04.957.
