Randolph hits six three-pointers, West Union ends 12-11 after Minford loss
Violet Randolph sank six three-pointers and scored 18, but West Union fell 59-47 at Minford on Feb. 18, ending the Lady Dragons' season at 12-11.

Violet Randolph drilled six three-point baskets and finished with 18 points, but the West Union Lady Dragons could not overcome Minford and lost 59-47 at Minford on Feb. 18, bringing West Union’s 2025-26 season to a close at 12-11 under coach Jacob Stout.
West Union trailed after the first quarter and could not catch up: West Union by quarter 12, 9, 17, 9 — 47, while Minford scored 15, 9, 19, 16 — 59. West Union’s scoring breakdown listed Randolph 18, McIntosh 8, Stout 5, Hall 8, Cook 6 and White 2. Minford’s scorers included Davis 22, Enz 13, Howard 14, Carter 5, Kasee 3 and Flaig 2.

Randolph’s six made three-pointers were the most eye-catching individual performance on West Union’s stat line. Her late-season scoring helped West Union rally to a winning 12-11 overall mark for the 2025-26 season, but the Minford loss halted the postseason run in the Division V district-tournament game in which Minford outscored West Union in the second half.
After the game, Coach Jacob Stout reflected on the evening’s misses and on the season. “We just didn’t make the shots,” Stout said in his postgame radio interview. “In and out all night.” Stout also reflected on the team’s character: “They’re a great group of kids. I watched them in Pee-Wee growing up and now I am extremely proud of them. I’m glad I could be a part of it. Those girls love each other and get along really well.”
The end of the season was described as a “Catchy-22” for Stout and his squad — ousted from the district tournament on Feb. 18, yet buoyed by a late surge that produced a winning overall record and left the roster “filled with a whole lot of ‘what-ifs.’”
Other area postseason listings show a separate report that Eastern defeated West Union on Feb. 12 in Southeast District Division III sectional play, listing Eastern as the No. 22 seed and West Union as the No. 27 seed, with Eastern juniors Lilly Yuppa scoring 11 and Emma Litzinger 9 and Eastern at 9-14 after that win; those details, including the Feb. 12 date, Eastern’s opponents and the Division III label, do not align with West Union’s Feb. 18 loss at Minford and the Division V district-tournament designation as reported from the Minford game. The two accounts list different opponents, dates and division labels and remain inconsistent in the public postseason logs.
To avoid confusion about school nicknames, Clinton High School’s Lady Dragons are a different program: Clinton senior guard Addi Gamble reached the 1,000-point milestone in Clinton’s 64-30 District 4-AAA win over Gibbs on Jan. 20, posting 23 points, seven rebounds, seven steals, three assists and three blocks in that game. West Union’s 2025-26 campaign closed with the 59-47 loss at Minford and a 12-11 final record that Coach Stout framed as a point of pride despite the abrupt postseason exit.
