Shaver Lake homeowner films three mountain lions; sheriff posts video
Wednesday morning a Shaver Lake homeowner’s security camera recorded three mountain lions walking across his Crystal Creek Lane driveway; the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office posted the footage March 4, 2026.

Wednesday morning a Shaver Lake homeowner checked his security camera and found video of three mountain lions moving across his driveway on Crystal Creek Lane, and the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office posted the footage publicly March 4, 2026. Reports identify the homeowner as Mike Giubini, though a KMPH screenshot spells the name “MIKE GIUBBINI,” and the homeowner told KMPH he checked the camera “around 7:30 a.m.” when he spotted the animals.
The video, credited to the homeowner in local coverage, shows three adult big cats walking in single file across the driveway. KMPH described the footage this way: “The video shows the trio walking one after the other, unbothered and seemingly on a mission, as they passed through the area.” BroBile’s writeup added that “these weren’t a mama and her babies either, they are all quite grown,” and another community account cited by KMPH said some neighbors believe there may actually be four mountain lions traveling together — a claim not visible on the homeowner’s posted clip.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office shared the clip on its social media account, @fresnosheriff, and framed the post as a community reminder. The sheriff’s office wrote, “It’s the wildlife’s world too, we’re just sharing it with them.” Gvwire reported the post urged residents to remain aware of their surroundings along the foothills and Sierra neighborhoods around Shaver Lake; the publicly available Instagram excerpt in aggregated sources was truncated and did not show the post’s full guidance.
State wildlife context was included in local reporting. KMPH citing the California Department of Fish and Wildlife noted mountain lions are native to California and typically solitary, making group sightings “especially rare,” and added that mountain lion attacks on humans are uncommon — “Since 1890, there have been six known fatal human attacks by mountain lions in California.” BroBile’s coverage placed the animals in statewide context, reporting experts estimate roughly 4,500 mountain lions across California’s approximately 164,000 square miles and noting the animals frequently turn up on home security and Ring cameras.

Other community posts compiled with the Shaver Lake footage referenced separate sightings. A Facebook excerpt quoted in aggregation said, “10pm last night - 3 mountain lions in the open ... Rattlesnake Rd by Mirror Lake caught a mountain lion on our video cam Friday May 24,” a different incident and date from the March 4 Crystal Creek Lane video. BroBile also referenced a past La Verne incident where a mountain lion approached a homeowner’s front door about six months earlier.
Authorities in Fresno County have not, in the available reports, announced additional monitoring or mitigation actions beyond the social-post reminder. The sheriff’s office video and the homeowner’s security footage have prompted renewed attention from Crystal Creek Lane neighbors and regional wildlife officials to the presence of large predators in foothill neighborhoods.
