Skywalker Ranch General Store Opens at Presidio, Selling Star Wars Merch

A long‑private merchandise outpost tied to Lucasfilm and Skywalker Ranch opened to the public in early February inside the Letterman Digital Arts Center at the Presidio, and collectors are already arriving. The Skywalker Ranch General Store is located in Building D, a short walk from the Yoda Fountain next to the Presidio Starbucks, and offers Star Wars merchandise alongside Skywalker Ranch‑branded clothing and a room devoted to wine.

The store had previously been restricted to Lucasfilm and LucasArts insiders, requiring a special escort into the Presidio headquarters; visitors now report free entry and easy access. A Reddit poster who attended a Visual Effects Society and Producers Guild of America event wrote, "Last night, 11 Feb, I went to an event put on by the VES (Visual effects Society) and the PGA (Producers Guild of America, not the golf folks) at Lucas Film in SF and I went early. The first thing visitors see upon entering is a room full of wine sourced from grapes grown at the Skywalker Ranch estate in Marin County, with additional bottles from satellite vineyards in Italy and France. Bottle prices start at $30, and the wines are available online while not traditionally sold through retail outlets. Many labels feature a winged figure that was the original inspiration for the Skywalker name; Tom Johnson, identified as Skywalker Ranch executive director of hospitality, recounted a customer anecdote: "We had a Japanese tourist in yesterday that bought a rolling suitcase to take back a case of wine."

Merchandise spans higher‑end apparel and collectibles rather than a mass toy selection. The Skywalker Ranch General Store now contributes a new, branded retail presence inside the Presidio’s Letterman campus, blending Skywalker‑estate wine, limited apparel collaborations and higher‑end collectibles in Building D near the Yoda Fountain.
