Southwest University Park Hosts Feb. 7 Job Fair for 2026 Season
Southwest University Park hosted a Feb. 7 job fair to recruit part-time, seasonal staff for the 2026 season, a key step in staffing gamedays and hospitality operations.

Southwest University Park hosted a job fair in the WestStar Club on Saturday, Feb. 7, to recruit part-time, seasonal and event-based staff for the 2026 season. The ballpark and its official food and beverage provider, Professional Sports Catering LLC, ran coordinated hiring efforts from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with job seekers directed to enter via the Clock Tower VIP entrance at Franklin Avenue and Durango Street.
Organizers underscored that the fair was aimed at staffing the on-site roles that shape the fan experience. The park’s release said, "This event offers job seekers the opportunity to join the team that makes gamedays and events at Southwest University Park memorable for fans and visitors alike." Applicants were encouraged to apply online in advance through the Compass Group careers page, bring copies of resumes, and come "dressed to impress." The release also spelled out eligibility rules: "Candidates must be at least 16 years of age to apply and must be able to pass a background check."
Positions explicitly listed by Southwest University Park and partner PSC spanned guest services, cleaning crew, facilities maintenance technicians, stadium operations, retail, ushers, ticket takers, parking lot attendants, grounds crew, security, game day entertainment staff, kids playground attendants, 50/50 raffle sellers, and bat boy/clubhouse roles. PSC separately recruited cooks, cashiers, concessions runners, servers and bartenders to fuel concessions and premium hospitality areas.
The fair reflected broader industry dynamics in Triple-A baseball and pro soccer venues, where teams and vendors depend on a flexible, seasonal workforce to scale for packed weekends and promotional nights. For the El Paso Chihuahuas, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, and El Paso Locomotive FC of the USL Championship, staffing decisions directly affect in-stadium service levels, turnaround times at concession stands and the pace of entry lines on high-attendance dates. Hiring at the ballpark therefore serves both fan-facing quality and the behind-the-scenes logistics that keep events running smoothly.

There is also a local economic angle. Southwest University Park opened in 2014 as a downtown anchor, and seasonal hiring provides entry points for teenagers and college students to gain hospitality and event experience. The park and its partners reiterated equal-opportunity hiring practices: "Southwest University Park, the El Paso Chihuahuas, El Paso Locomotive FC, and Leg Up Entertainment are proud to be equal-opportunity employers." Organizers emphasized they were seeking "qualified, hardworking candidates of all skill levels who can work baseball and soccer home games as well as other sporting and non-sporting events in a variety of different positions."
For job seekers who missed the Feb. 7 event, the park listed contact information for follow-up inquiries and applications; the ballpark is located at 1 Ballpark Plaza in downtown El Paso and can be reached by phone at (915) 533-BASE. The hiring push signals that as the 2026 season ramps up, the Chihuahuas and Locomotive will be counting on a newly recruited cohort of part-time workers to deliver game-night energy, keep concessions moving and sustain the fan experience that helps fill seats and fuel downtown commerce.
