Steam Deck OLED Price Hike Confirmed for Japan, South Korea, Taiwan
Buy before March 6 to lock in current Steam Deck OLED pricing in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan; KOMODO confirmed regional hikes taking effect March 6, 2026.

Buy before March 6 if you want the current local prices for Steam Deck OLED in Asia. KOMODO Co., Ltd., Valve’s authorized regional distributor for Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea, announced in a Feb. 27 press release that it will raise Steam Deck OLED prices in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan effective March 6, 2026.
KOMODO’s published price table shows the exact changes players in each market will see. In Japan the 512GB OLED moves from JPY 84,800 to JPY 99,800 and the 1TB OLED moves from JPY 99,800 to JPY 114,800, a JPY 15,000 increase for both SKUs. In South Korea the 512GB jumps from KRW 839,000 to KRW 898,000 and the 1TB from KRW 989,000 to KRW 1,048,000, an increase of KRW 59,000 for each model. In Taiwan the 512GB edges up from TWD 18,880 to TWD 18,980 (+TWD 100) while the 1TB goes from TWD 21,980 to TWD 22,480 (+TWD 500).
KOMODO explained the decision in its release: “Due to increased logistics costs and shifting exchange rate conditions that have persisted since the initial launch of Steam Deck, KOMODO has made the difficult decision to raise the price of Steam Deck OLED in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.” The distributor also noted regional variance for Hong Kong: “Note: The price in Hong Kong will remain the same as the region has been less impacted by these factors.” KOMODO closed the statement with customer-facing language: “We sincerely appreciate your continued support and understanding. We remain committed to delivering the best possible experience to our customers.”
Independent calculations highlight how the changes break down by percentage. VideoCardz computed Japan’s JPY 15,000 jump as about a 17.7% increase for the 512GB and about 15.0% for the 1TB, South Korea’s KRW 59,000 rise as about 7.0% for the 512GB and 6.0% for the 1TB, and Taiwan’s adjustments as roughly 0.5% and 2.3% respectively; VideoCardz summarized that “Across all listed SKUs and regions, the average increase is roughly 8.1%.”

Contextual reporting has flagged broader supply pressure but KOMODO did not single out memory pricing. AOL paraphrased KOMODO as saying “Per Komodo, the reasons behind this price increase aren't related to RAM pricing, at least not directly,” while other outlets such as FRVR and Tom’s Guide noted global memory shortages and intermittent Steam Deck availability as industry context rather than KOMODO’s stated cause.
KOMODO’s Feb. 27 press release contains the authoritative local-currency figures and the March 6, 2026 effective date; Valve has not issued an independent statement in the release. Whether other regions will follow with price revisions and how quickly local retailers will reflect the new rates remains to be seen before March 6. Expect retailer listings and official channels to show updated pricing when the change takes effect.
