Suspected shooting between drivers on northbound I-95 near Hanover Street
A driver in a gray Chevrolet sedan reported being shot at on northbound I-95 near the Hanover Street exit around 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Maryland Transportation Authority Police said.

Maryland Transportation Authority Police said officers were called around 10:45 a.m. to northbound I-95 near the Hanover Street exit, where the driver of a gray Chevrolet sedan reported shots were fired by the driver of a light-blue vehicle. The incident was reported to MDTA Police as occurring near Exit 54 (Hanover Street) and prompted an active investigation by the agency.
MDTA Police confirmed that no injuries were reported after the incident that unfolded in the late-morning commute window. “Anyone with information is asked to call MDTA Police at 410-537-6700,” the agency said as it asked motorists and bystanders who may have seen the exchange to come forward. The agency identified the involved vehicles only as a gray Chevrolet sedan and a light-blue passenger vehicle and gave no further identifying details about either driver.
Investigators have not released information about recovered evidence at the scene; MDTA Police have not said whether shell casings, bullet strikes, or vehicle damage were found along the northbound lanes or on the Hanover Street collector-distributor. Authorities are likely to review MDTA traffic cameras and seek dashcam or surveillance footage covering the 10:30–11:00 a.m. window, and they continue to ask witnesses who were driving through Exit 54 or nearby Hanover Street to call 410-537-6700.

The MDTA investigation comes days after a separate, high-profile encounter near I-95 that ended in a fatal officer-involved shooting. In that earlier case, investigators said a confrontation that began in the Eastwood neighborhood at the 6800 block of Bank Street led officers to an I-95 on-ramp where body-worn camera footage showed a suspect identified as Muse on the ground and a recovered Taurus revolver. Deputy Police Commissioner Brian Nadeau, speaking about that separate incident, said, “It’s very hard to accidentally shoot off a revolver,” and that the gun was not in “a position where it could have accidentally gone off unless he actually pulled the trigger.” That Feb. 14 encounter involved Baltimore Police officers and is being handled separately from the MDTA inquiry into Sunday’s reported exchange near Hanover Street.
Sunday’s report, though it resulted in no reported injuries, highlights continuing concerns for public safety along Baltimore’s I-95 corridor and the Hanover Street exit that carries commuters to South Baltimore neighborhoods. MDTA Police maintain the primary investigative lead for incidents on the interstate; anyone with observations, dashcam video, or other information about the northbound I-95 incident near Exit 54 around 10:45 a.m. Sunday is asked to contact MDTA Police at 410-537-6700 as the agency continues its probe.
