Velites Recaps Open 26.2 Reveal in Cascais with Sponsors, Top Times, Equipment
Velites presented Open 26.2 at CrossFit Black Edition in Cascais, revealed the new MINIMAL shoe, and printed a 15-minute, dumbbell-heavy WOD with women using a 35-lb and men a 50-lb dumbbell.

Velites published a detailed post on March 6, 2026 that recaps the live reveal of Open Workout 26.2 from CrossFit Black Edition in Cascais, Portugal and adds sponsor-centric analysis and equipment recommendations. The brand served as the presenting sponsor for the reveal where Dave Castro unveiled a 15-minute, dumbbell-forward scheme and Velites used the stage to debut its new MINIMAL shoes.
Wod 26.2 Crossfit presented by VELITES reads, in the canonical block captured: For time: 80-foot dumbbell overhead walking lunge; 20 alternating dumbbell snatches; 20 pull-ups; 80-foot dumbbell overhead walking lunge; 20 alternating dumbbell snatches; 20 chest-to-bar pull-ups. TIME CAP: 15 minutes. Women: 35-lb (15-kg) dumbbell. Men: 50-lb (22.5-kg) dumbbell. A fragment elsewhere in the capture also lists 20 ring muscle-ups in place of one pulling movement, so the exact pull discipline remains unclear in the captured material.
The live announcement was scheduled for 5 March 2026 at 20:00 in Lisbon / 21:00 CET and took place at CrossFit Black Edition, Cascais. The Velites copy said, “The atmosphere at CrossFit Black Edition has been electric,” and named invited athletes Mirjam von Rohr, Lucy Campbell, and Aimee Cringle as present for the reveal. The capture also shows the score submission window as printed: “From 5 to 9 March (01:00 CET) 2026 | 01:00 CET,” text that repeats and reads ambiguously in the source.
Velites positioned itself prominently around the event. Matías Hernandez, CEO Velites, is quoted: “We’re so proud to once again be the Official Apparel and Footwear Sponsor for the 2026 Games. This partnership represents years of work, athlete collaboration, and relentless focus on innovation. The CrossFit Games are the ultimate testing ground, and we’re honored to support the athletes who define what’s possible in our sport.” Greg Schwartz, Vice President of Global Partnerships, added: “Velites has quickly established itself as a trusted and innovative partner for the CrossFit community. Their focus on performance, durability, and athlete-driven design aligns closely with what our sport demands at the highest level. We’re excited to continue building this partnership for this year’s Games.”
Product copy in the recap explicitly says: “The atmosphere at CrossFit Black Edition has been electric, and besides watching the world’s best athletes fight in the WOD, we took the opportunity to reveal Velites' best kept secret: the new MINIMAL shoes. Designed to feel the ground like never before and give you that extra agility this WOD demands.” The Velites post also repeats company origin language: “Founded in 2015, Velites was born from a simple but powerful insight: solving real problems athletes face in training. What started with the frustration of a poor-quality jump rope:tangled, imprecise, and limiting performance, evolved into a handmade prototype and the foundation of a broader mission.”
Wodprep analysis reproduced in the capture frames practical race plans and pacing cues. Their headline reads “This Workout Breaks Down Into Three Types of Athletes,” and their coaching lines are explicit: “26.2 is one of those workouts that will feel very manageable in the first few minutes, and that’s exactly why so many athletes make mistakes,” and “Leave a rep in the tank. Keep sets crisp. Keep breaks short.” They close with a clear warning: “When you start this workout, it’s going to feel fine. That’s the trap. The athletes who crush 26.2 aren’t the ones who win minute one, they’re the ones who stay calm, stick to the plan, and keep making smart decisions when everyone else gets frantic.”
The captured material contains a few reconcilable inconsistencies: a Mar 2, 2026 header shows “By Alfonso Prim” and names Calum Clements and Tiago Luzes alongside the piece title, while the Velites post is explicitly noted as published March 6, 2026; the venue table erroneously tacks “California” onto Cascais; and the pull movement alternates across blocks between pull-ups, chest-to-bar, and ring muscle-ups. The capture includes no top live times or leaderboard finishes despite the story headline promising “top live times.” Verify the canonical WOD wording, the official leaderboard, the Velites publication metadata, and MINIMAL shoe specs with CrossFit’s official announcement and Velites’ product pages before citing final results or specs.
