Visa and Global Fashion Agenda Launch Recycle the Runway for Circular Designers
Visa and Global Fashion Agenda opened Visa Young Creators: Recycle the Runway in early March 2026, offering 15 European finalists a share of EUR 110,000 and a grand-prize reveal at the Global Fashion Summit in Copenhagen.

Visa and Global Fashion Agenda launched Visa Young Creators: Recycle the Runway in early March 2026, a Europe-only competition that will name 15 finalists to share a total prize pool of EUR 110,000 and announce a grand prize winner at the Global Fashion Summit in Copenhagen on 6 May 2026. The programme promises mentorship, financial grants, and introductions to Visa’s commerce network for creators working in circular fashion.
Gemma Styles will serve as the official Recycle the Runway Ambassador and join an expert jury to review and shortlist applicants. Philip Konopik, Group Country Manager, Nordics and Baltics, Visa Europe, framed Visa’s role: "At Visa, we help creators and small business thrive in a circular, digital-first world by pairing secure, seamless payments and commerce solutions with the education, resources and mentorship to turn bold ideas into scalable businesses to help drive sustainable economic growth. Through Visa Young Creators: Recycle the Runway with Global Fashion Agenda, we're proud to empower the next generation of creators and spotlight how those purpose-led small businesses can speed the shift to a more regenerative fashion economy."
Eligibility requirements are specific and exacting: applicants must be at least 18 years old, apply on behalf of a business registered and headquartered in Europe for at least one year, and operate primarily within Europe. The programme targets creators in fashion upcycling, textiles, accessories or footwear, and apparel and prioritises circular activities such as resell, repair, rental, refill, return, and redistribute. Entrants are limited to one application per person and one prize per person.
There is a discrepancy in published application dates across organiser materials. The Terms & Conditions attached to GFA’s LinkedIn post set the entry window as 9 February 2026 at 13:00 CET to 28 February 2026 at 23:59 CET, while Global Fashion Agenda’s site copy states "Applications close on 7 March 2026." The LinkedIn post that carried the T&Cs registered 72 likes and 2 comments at capture, signalling industry interest in the call for applicants.

Key timeline milestones are clear in the T&Cs: finalists will be announced online on 9 April 2026, and selected participants must be available to attend the Global Fashion Summit in Copenhagen on 6–7 May 2026 where the Grand Prize Winner will be revealed on 6 May 2026. Prize recipients must respond to prize notifications within fourteen days and provide requested information to claim awards. Visa Europe Ltd is listed as sponsor at 1 Sheldon Square, London W2 6TT.
Visa’s 2026 initiative follows a 2025 UK iteration of Recycle the Runway in which six creators shared £20,000, with artist Sophie Tea involved and recognition from London College of Fashion, UAL. LuxuryDaily reported a grand prize "more than $20,000" for the 2026 competition, while the T&Cs specify only the EUR 110,000 pool across 15 finalists; the full prize breakdown is set out in the organisers’ Terms & Conditions. The programme’s alignment with the Global Fashion Summit embeds these emerging circular designers in the industry calendar and offers a tangible path from studio experimentation to commerce-scale opportunities at the Copenhagen summit.
