Weeki Wachee Senior Genesis Beal Named FACA District Player of the Year
Weeki Wachee senior Genesis Beal averaged 12 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while helping the Hornets win their third straight district title.

Genesis Beal walked off the Weeki Wachee hardwood this season as the Florida Athletic Coaches Association's Class 4A District 10 Player of the Year, capping a senior campaign that saw the Hornets claim their third consecutive district championship and advance to the Sweet 16.
Beal appeared in all 29 of the Hornets' games during the 2025-26 season, averaging 12.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.9 steals per contest with 1.9 assists per game. She blocked 7 shots across the season and finished with 349 points, well above the national average of 4.0 points per game tracked by MaxPreps. Head coach Billy Hughes was the first to deliver the news of her selection in February.
"She is such a naturally gifted athlete," Hughes said. "Great basketball player and awesome flag football player. Even played volleyball for a few years at Weeki Wachee. Every sport she's played has helped mold her into the great athlete she is. We always stress to our girls in the basketball program to play more than one sport. College coaches love to see it and it helps you become an all-around athlete."
Beal's best single-game performance came in December, when she poured in 21 points during a 51-26 demolition of the Pasco Pirates, the second time she cleared 20 points that season. She added 2 assists, 4 steals and 8 rebounds in that outing. The Hornets also knocked off Hernando High School 42-34 on January 30 and topped Nature Coast Tech 43-33 in the district tournament on February 4 as they marched toward the title.

Hughes described Beal as the linchpin of that postseason run. "Genesis is a big team player and always puts the team first. Very unselfish so she loved seeing her teammates and team do well. She really wanted another district title and she was a huge puzzle piece to make it happen."
Basketball was only one piece of Beal's athletic profile at Weeki Wachee. She also suited up as a wide receiver in flag football and played middle blocker in volleyball, wearing number 10 on the court and on the football field and number 14 on the volleyball court. Her cross-sport resume ranked her in the top 50 in Florida and top 10 in Class 4A for at least one statistical category, according to MaxPreps.
The FACA award recognizes top performers at the district level and represents the culmination of a career in which Beal helped establish the Hornets as one of the county's most consistent programs in girls basketball.
