Belleville Senators Sign High-Scoring Winger Mistelbacher to AHL Deal
Luke Mistelbacher posted 42 goals and 46 assists in 67 WHL games before Belleville signed the 20-year-old to an AHL contract for 2026-27.

The Belleville Senators strengthened their forward depth Wednesday by signing 20-year-old right wing Luke Mistelbacher to an AHL contract for the 2026-27 season. Mistelbacher joined the club immediately on an amateur tryout, making him available for the final stretch of the 2025-26 campaign.
The timing reflects just how productive Mistelbacher's final WHL season was. In 67 regular-season games with the Brandon Wheat Kings, he posted 88 points on 42 goals and 46 assists, numbers that placed him among the league's leading scorers. He carried that pace into the playoffs as well, adding three goals and an assist across four postseason games.
Those totals sit on top of an already substantial junior resume. Across stints with both the Wheat Kings and the Swift Current Broncos, Mistelbacher accumulated 205 points in 257 career WHL games, a rate that has Belleville projecting him as a middle-to-top-six offensive option as he adjusts to professional hockey.
What separates Mistelbacher from a typical WHL-to-AHL transition is a brief but relevant data point: he appeared in two games with the Iowa Wild during the 2024-25 season and scored a goal in those outings. That pro sample, however small, gave Belleville confidence that his finishing ability was not purely a product of junior competition.
The ATO structure serves a specific purpose for both sides. Mistelbacher gets immediate pro exposure with regular-season stakes, while the B-Sens coaching staff gets a live evaluation before committing fully to how he fits into next fall's lineup. With a full AHL contract already in place for 2026-27, the tryout functions less as a test and more as an introduction, a chance for Belleville to see how his shot and instincts hold up against AHL defenders before training camp even opens.
For a 20-year-old who just posted one of the more impressive WHL offensive seasons in recent memory, the professional path forward is mapped out. Belleville is simply making sure he gets a running start.
