Belleville Senators Stun Hershey Bears 6-3 at GIANT Center

Belleville arrived in Hershey as the underdog and left with a resounding statement. The Senators handed the Hershey Bears a 6-3 loss on Saturday night at GIANT Center, a result that stung a Bears team sitting at 27-24-6-2 and still working through a magic number of 21 to clinch a berth in the 2026 Calder Cup Playoffs.

The game was never particularly close after the first period. Hershey and Belleville traded goals in the opening frame to knot the score at one apiece, but the Senators seized control in the second period with a three-goal burst that turned a tight contest into a rout. Hershey managed just one goal per period across all three frames, while Belleville added two more in the third to seal the 6-3 final.

For Belleville, at 23-28-8-0 entering the night, the win was the opening leg of a short road trip and the first game of a back-to-back. Getting that kind of result away from home, against a team that had been jostling for playoff position in the Atlantic Division, carries real weight for a club trying to close ground in the standings.

The loss was the third of the season series between these two clubs for Hershey. With the defeat, the Bears now stand at 1-2-0-0 against Belleville in 2025-26, having previously absorbed an overtime loss on Jan. 24 in Belleville, when Stephen Halliday scored the game-winner with under two minutes left in overtime. Oskar Pettersson and Angus Crookshank also scored in that earlier contest, which Belleville won after falling behind 3-1 in the first period. Saturday's margin was significantly wider, and the result came on Hershey's home ice.

The two teams reconvene immediately. Hershey hosted Belleville again on Sunday, March 15 at 5 p.m. at GIANT Center to close out their season series. The rematch was billed as the Bears' final Washington Capitals Night of the 2025-26 season, featuring a postgame Screaming Bear jersey auction and a rally towel giveaway for all fans in attendance, sponsored by Eagle Excavating, GIANT, Elizabethtown College, MI Windows, Members 1st, Hollywood Casino, and Tyson.

Hershey's playoff math did not shift with Saturday's defeat; the magic number to clinch a Calder Cup Playoffs spot remained at 21. But losing at home to a team below them in the standings, particularly by three goals, is the kind of result a contending club needs to reverse quickly, and Sunday's rematch offered the first opportunity to do exactly that.
