The Rockford IceHogs signed forward Jiri Felcman to a professional tryout agreement, adding the Chicago Blackhawks' 2023 third-round pick to their roster as he awaits immigration clearance before reporting to the club.

Felcman, 20, arrives from the SC Langnau Tigers of Switzerland's National League, where he posted 20 points on 3 goals and 17 assists across 52 games this season. The 6-foot-4, 198-pound center out of Hradec Králové, Czechia turns 21 on April 17 and brings a full two seasons of Swiss top-flight experience with him. Last season he appeared in 34 games for the SCL Tigers, scoring once and adding eight assists while navigating inconsistent ice time that ranged from over 13 minutes some nights to under 10 on others.

The Blackhawks drafted Felcman 93rd overall in 2023, and he has remained in the organization's orbit since, taking part in training camp last fall and suiting up during the preseason. His path to Rockford follows the close of his Swiss season, and once immigration paperwork clears, he is expected to integrate with the IceHogs and the Blackhawks' development staff. He is not likely to appear in games immediately, but the stint gives the organization a closer look at a prospect whose stock climbed steadily in Switzerland.

Chicago Hockey Now ranked Felcman 31st among Blackhawks prospects and made a pointed assessment: "If I had to pick one of the prospects from this group to earn an entry-level contract, it's Jiri Felcman." The outlet describes him as "a physical forward who excels in front of the net and is a penalty-kill specialist." The Blackhawks hold his rights through June 1, 2027, leaving plenty of runway to develop him at their own pace before committing to an entry-level deal.

Felcman has also carried the flag internationally, representing Czechia multiple times and helping the Czechs claim a bronze medal at the 2025 World Junior Championships.

His signing fits a broader wave of pipeline movement the New York Times identified as typical for this point in the calendar, with prospects such as Ryan Greene, Paul Ludwinski, Gavin Hayes, and Samuel Savoie potentially joining Rockford as their respective seasons conclude.

One minor wrinkle worth noting: the IceHogs press release and some outlets describe the contract as a professional tryout (PTO), while the New York Times and Chicago Hockey Now refer to it as an amateur tryout agreement (ATO). The distinction carries practical significance, and the IceHogs have not publicly clarified which term governs the paperwork.

Rockford's next home game is Saturday, March 28, when the IceHogs host the Iowa Wild at the BMO Center, with puck drop set for 7:00 p.m. The first 2,500 fans receive a Hockey Stick Cooler Bag in a giveaway presented by Pepsi. Tickets are available at icehogs.com.
