Anaheim recalled 24-year-old center Tim Washe from its AHL affiliate, the San Diego Gulls, and placed veteran goaltender Petr Mrazek on Injured Reserve with a lower-body injury. The move, announced Jan. 7, 2026, adds a physically imposing, defensively minded center to a Ducks club that now needs depth down the middle and dependable minutes in the faceoff circle.

Washe, listed at 6-foot-3 and 212 pounds, has already had a taste of the NHL. He made his debut with Anaheim on April 15, 2025 at Minnesota and appeared in two games with the Ducks in 2024-25 after signing a one-year entry-level contract following his collegiate career. Anaheim showed further commitment by signing Washe to a two-year contract extension on Aug. 4, 2025.

At the time of his recall, Washe led the Gulls in goals with 13 and co-led in points with a 13-12=25 line through 30 AHL games. He ranked fourth on the team in assists and plus/minus (+7) and was tied for second in goals and tied for third in points among AHL rookies. Those numbers underline the scoring touch he brings in addition to his size and defensive acumen.

Washe’s résumé is built on two-way play and faceoff control. As captain at Western Michigan University, he helped the Broncos to their first national championship in 2024-25, recording two assists in the title game. He posted a 16-22=38 season with a +22 rating, set a program single-season record with eight game-winning goals, and led the NCAA in faceoff win percentage at 63.1 percent (483-of-766). He finished his five-year NCAA career with a program-record 171 games played and a 28-46=74 line, plus a +19 rating and 125 penalty minutes.

For Anaheim, Washe provides practical value right away: a center who can win draws, anchor the penalty kill, and eat tough minutes against opponent top lines without sacrificing defensive structure. The recall also signals a development pipeline workout for the Ducks’ fan base, San Diego loses a top rookie scorer, while Anaheim gains a player already trusted in big-game college and AHL situations.

Fantasy managers and local fans should watch lineup announcements and early shifts for signs of how coach deployment unfolds. If Washe draws into regular minutes, expect him to be used on defensive-zone faceoffs and short-handed situations where his winning percentage at the dot can tilt possession.

Our two cents? Keep an eye on the draws and the PK usage, Washe’s skill set translates to real, usable minutes for the Ducks right now, and it gives Anaheim a dependable center option while Mrazek recovers.
