Griffins Crush Moose 7-2, Brandsegg-Nygård Dazzles With Backhand Goal
Stachowiak's three-game multi-point run and Brandsegg-Nygård's backhand into the top corner highlight a dominant 7-2 Griffins win over Manitoba.

Wojciech Stachowiak's fourth-quarter surge doesn't slow down. The Grand Rapids center turned in his third consecutive multi-point performance Saturday night at the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, pushing his five-game total to 11 points (3-8) as the Griffins rolled over the Manitoba Moose 7-2 and extended their win streak to five games.
The headline moment belonged to Magnus Brandsegg-Nygård, who backhanded one into the top-right corner from the doorstep 45 seconds into the second period, reestablishing a two-goal cushion after Dylan Anhorn had briefly cut Grand Rapids' lead to 2-1. It was the Norwegian rookie's second consecutive game-winner and third straight two-point night, lifting his season totals to 18 goals, 23 assists and 41 points. Among all AHL rookies, no one has delivered in the clutch more consistently: Brandsegg-Nygård's seven game-winners lead the position leaderboard outright.
Manitoba answered by yanking starter Vincent DiVincentiis for Thomas Milic with 2:28 elapsed in the second, and the swap did nothing to slow the damage. Ten seconds after Milic skated in, Colby Barlow tapped one past the left post to pull the Moose to 3-2. But Anton Johansson wiped that out 70 seconds later, ripping a shot from the blue line that squirted between Milic's pads to restore the two-goal margin at 4-2. At the 10:53 mark, John Leonard dropped a pass to Genborg in the right circle, who snapped it home for a 5-2 lead the Griffins never relinquished.
Erik Gustafsson added two assists to reach 30 helpers on the season, his 10th in the past six games alone. In the final frame, Stachowiak centered a pass from the far corner to Antti Tuomisto, who buried the backdoor chance at 4:25 to make it 6-2. Jakub Rychlovsky sealed it with 1:49 remaining, hammering a shot past the left post to close the 7-2 final.

Tomas Postava held the crease for Grand Rapids, surrendering both goals to a Moose squad that has now lost six of seven to the Griffins this season. The series result, 5-1-1-0, underscores just how thoroughly Grand Rapids has owned this matchup since Manitoba rejoined the AHL in 2015-16, with the Griffins now sitting 41-24-1-3 all-time against them.
Heading into the final stretch of the regular season, the Griffins have already locked up the Western Conference title and their seventh 100-point campaign in franchise history. With the pace they're playing at, the only question left is how much sharper Brandsegg-Nygård's backhand gets before the playoffs begin.
