Henderson Silver Knights Seek Pre-K to 5 Nominations for Nevada Reading Week
Henderson Silver Knights are asking Pre-K–5 educators to nominate classrooms for visits during Nevada Reading Week, promoting literacy and local fan engagement.

The Henderson Silver Knights are asking Pre-K – 5th grade educators to nominate their classroom or school for the opportunity to receive a visit from the Silver Knights organization during Nevada Reading Week (March 2–6). The outreach campaign ties youth literacy to the club’s community agenda while giving the AHL affiliate a visible role in local schools.
HENDERSON (January 29, 2026), The team’s announcement lays out a clear timeline and simple entry formats. “Starting Feb. 2 through Feb. 13, teachers are asked to show us why their class should be chosen for a visit from the Henderson Silver Knights.” Submissions can be creative: “Submissions can be in form of essays, videos, pictures or letters, with an emphasis on students love for reading and the knights.” Winners will be contacted in mid-February: “Selected classrooms and schools will be notified during the week of Feb. 16. For additional details, please click here.”
The franchise is explicit about selection criteria: “Reading Week visit winners will be selected based on the creativity of their submissions.” Once gathered, educators are instructed to send materials via the obfuscated submission channel provided by the club: “Once materials are gathered, please email them to (/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection#3e4c5b5f5a575059495b5b557e565b505a5b4c4d51504d5752485b4c55505759564a4d105d5153).” The release does not specify how many classrooms will be chosen, who from the organization will attend visits, or geographic limits beyond the Pre-K–5 grade band.
The program reinforces the Silver Knights’ identity as a development-focused franchise. “The Henderson Silver Knights are the American Hockey League affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights. The Silver Knights are owned in part by Bill Foley and his family and operated by the Foley Entertainment Group. The Silver Knights play their home games at Lee’s Family Forum, a state-of-the-art arena in Henderson, NV.” That pedigree gives the visits marketing value for sponsors and positions the club as a bridge between professional hockey and community institutions.

From a cultural perspective, the initiative turns hockey into a platform for literacy, using mascot-level visibility and player branding to spark early interest in reading. For the organization, classroom visits during Nevada Reading Week are low-cost, high-return community investments that can deepen fan loyalty among families and build the next generation of ticket buyers and followers.
For educators, the practical takeaway is clear: assemble creative submissions highlighting students’ love for reading and their enthusiasm for the Knights between Feb. 2 and Feb. 13, and watch for notifications the week of Feb. 16. The club encourages following its channels for updates and asset releases. If the Silver Knights convert this literary power play into regular school programming, it could become a staple of their community calendar and a model for other AHL clubs looking to blend sport, education, and brand growth.
