IceHogs Re-sign Enforcer Connor Mylymok Through 2026-27 Season
IceHogs re-signed enforcer Connor Mylymok through the 2026-27 season, keeping a physical presence in the lineup and reinforcing the team's identity for fans.

The Rockford IceHogs have locked up one of their toughest forwards by re-signing Connor Mylymok to a contract extension through the 2026-27 season, a move announced Jan. 19 that reinforces the team's commitment to grit and physical play. Mylymok has carved out a niche this season as a penalty-box fixture and an on-ice deterrent, and the extension sends a clear message about the IceHogs' short- and medium-term roster identity.
Through 25 games with Rockford this season, Mylymok has contributed five points (2 goals, 3 assists) while leading the team with 103 penalty minutes. He paces all American Hockey League rookies in PIMs and has been assessed seven fighting majors, underscoring his role as an enforcer and protector of teammates. Those numbers reflect a player whose primary value is not point production but the physical momentum and space he creates for skill players.
IceHogs General Manager Mark Bernard framed the move as both a hockey and development decision. "We are very excited that Connor will be staying with the IceHogs for the 2026-2027 season," said IceHogs General Manager Mark Bernard. "He has proven to be a valuable member of our team and we’re thrilled that he will continue his development path with us. His passion both on and off the ice is very infectious, as is his work ethic."
Mylymok's path to Rockford included splits last season between the AHL and the ECHL in the Calgary organization. He spent the bulk of that season with the Rapid City Rush and saw AHL action with the Wranglers. That background points to a familiar development arc for physical forwards who alternate between leagues while sharpening their game and establishing a professional identity.

From a performance perspective, the extension is pragmatic: Mylymok supplies fourth-line muscle, enforcement and penalty-killing willingness, while still showing flashes of offensive contribution. For coaching staff, having a dependable physical presence under contract simplifies lineup construction and matchup planning. For opponents, his willingness to engage in the tunnel of the game alters how skill players are protected and defended.
On the industry level, the signing highlights the continuing, if evolving, place of enforcers in professional hockey. While top-level leagues have reduced fighting and emphasized speed and skill, AHL clubs still often invest in players who bring intimidation and locker-room leadership. There are cultural and social trade-offs in that choice - fans prize the visceral aspects of hockey, but the sport also faces ongoing conversations about player safety and long-term welfare.
For IceHogs fans, the extension means continuity: a known quantity who will keep the team’s physical identity intact into the 2026-27 season. Expect Mylymok to remain a fixture in the lineup, to draw attention in the penalty column, and to serve as a touchstone for a locker room that values work ethic and edge as much as scoring.
